I've got this on my A3 Sportback.

When you engage reverse it usually gives a short bleep, then nothing until you get close to something, but recently, and more frequently, sometimes when I flick it into reverse it give a longer, higher pitched tone?

It's like an error/fault sound, but nothing comes up on the display. Any ideas? confused.gif

Try cleaning the sensors, I have had problems when they're wet/dirty otherwise you might have a dodgy sensor, my wife has a Ford Galaxy which has (VAG) sensors front and rear and over the last 5 years I've had to replace 3 sensors due to failure, always the outside rear ones that catch the sh1t that the rear wheels throw up. BTW I got the last one from Vagparts as it was almost half the price of a main dealer......

Still doing it, so phoned my dealer in Inverness - 'need to plug it into the diagnostic system for fault codes' - in other words not a scoobie (or just couldn't be bothered)

So now I have a 4 hour round trip to get a fault code, followed by another if it needs a part they don't stock frown.gif

Phoned the local Volkswagon dealership (the one that fixed my bonnet/grill alignment) but they don't do Audi warranty work so I'd have to pay. Fair enough I guess - but question... how much do you guys think for a quick plug in and a fault code, which I could then phone to Audi and get them to get the part??

Any other suggestions welcome, thanks,

Try calling Audi assist, I've had them out for non breakdown faults (engine management light & Airbag light) - the guy came same day, free of charge, can diagnose fault to the Audi dealer for spares ordering and 'can' wink.gif change any of the settings you might want (auto-locking etc) at the same time.....

Well the first time when I had the engine management light on I phoned the dealer who told me to ring Audi assist, I suppose that the fault could have been more serious but it turned out to be a faulty lambda sensor

Second time I had an airbag warning light on, after moving the passenger seat, I just phoned Audi assist without even contacting the dealer.

Both times the guy was with me in less than 2 hours, was a really nice guy and was quite happy to help with any 'reprogramming' I wanted, overall a far better experience than I have ever had at the dealer - give them a try, the worst they can say is no......
