Help with fault codes

Gave my car to the dealers today for an aircon service. I have had a faulty air recycling flap motor since I bought the car two years ago.

I received a call from the tech to say that they had pulled up a fault: Air flow flap positioning motor - faulty.

So I said, you mean the recycle flap, and he answers, no, the air flow flap, this is something totally different which controls your whole ventilation system. He even went to the point of telling me that they would not normally re-gas on a fault code as this.

In any event he quoted the dealers rip-off price of £792 to repair, being a dash out job, which I obviously declined.

Can anyone confirm if this fault code is in fact the recycle flap motor, or something else.

On the printout it has the following information:

004.01 - Check DTC memory

1 Malfunction recognised

01274 035

Air flow flap positioning motor-V71-

on VAG COM i have :-

1 fault found

01274 - Air flow flap positioning motor (v71)

37-00 - Faulty.

Mines had this since i got the car, and i cant find anything that doesn't work ok! All seems good! Air con cold, temps adjust correctly, recirc button seems to work.

My opinion, dont worry, not worth the money. Get the re gas done somewhere else

I had the regas done anyway, I don't fall for salesman talk. My problem was that he was quite sure the fault was not the recycle flap only something much more serious, and I know that it is faulty. Yet no other fault code came up.

It makes you wonder how much these guys really know. smashfreakB.gif

Not a lot by my experience, I told them my Passat tdi 130 Auto / Tip was a lot lot slower than my previous car (Ford Mondeo Estate 1.8TD with 181,000 miles), they just said well it is an Automatic shocked.gif

After a while the car would not accelerate up slight hills faster than 10 - 15 mph and they replaced the MAf and afterwards it was like they supercharged it!! shocked.gif

Anyway back to the posting topic. My air con decided to blow warm air at me when stuck in traffic the other week when it was boiling and a bit later I got the VAG com scan done by a mate and it came up with the following faults:

1 Fault Found:

18043 - Powertrain Data Bus: Missing Message from A/C Controller

P1635 - 35-00 - -

Readiness: N/A

2 Faults Found:

00792 - A/C Pressure Switch (F129)

35-00 - -

01274 - Air Flow Flap Positioning Motor (V71)

37-00 - Faulty

1 Fault Found:

01039 - Coolant Temperature Sensor (G2)

30-10 - Open or Short to Plus - Intermittent

3 Faults Found:

01134 - Alarm Horn (H12)

77-00 - Internal Supply Voltage

01134 - Alarm Horn (H12)

37-00 - Faulty

01134 - Alarm Horn (H12)

49-00 - No Communications

So does it look like I am going to be in for the same £££ shocked.gif quote from VW ????

Might just give me the reason to change the car!! as I am not spending that amount on it!! that is for damn sure I have already spend enough over the years mad.gif
