TDiAvant
Well after driving over 2000miles in Europe and not a single scratch, I was going onto the M1 from the M25, and a fecking truck kicked up something and put a nice scratch in the bonnet and chipped the windscreen. Both the scratch and the chip are about 10mm. I was thinking about just giving this to Audi and letting the insurance company and sort it out. docurley
Windscreen yes but if you know a cheap paint shop it should be an inexpensive repair to the bonnet.
Paul
id say the same, windscreen wont affect your no claims, or your excess, typically costs you £50-60 quid to use your insurers preferred windscreen people. Bonnet i wouldnt have thought wasnt worth any increase in premium if claimed theough insurance. No claims protected doesnt mean no rise! id get the bonnet done privately. [/ QUOTE ] Had the same thing but the debris damaged the offside rear wing and bumper. PM if you want the number of the paintshop I used, mine had more damage to it and they charged a little over £200 all in for fill in and entire rear bumper / wing respray. The might also be able to sort out a resin injection for your windsreen if the chip hasn't progressed into a crack.
A4_Family_Man
Sorry to hear about the damage. Chips and dents are part of parcel of motorway travel unfortunately. I always notice one or two more every time I wash the car. It hurts!! I've got to say the A4 has been more susceptible to chips than the TT. Maybe it's just my bad luck! felixthecat1
Get the windscreen sorted asap or it could spread.
Milo
[ QUOTE ] Get the windscreen sorted asap or it could spread. [/ QUOTE ] To dash, then the seats, then who knows! I would get the screen replaced - £50 or £60 excess and no blemish on your insurance record As for the paintwork, I would go for a smart repair (Chipsaway type fella) if possible or even a respray on the bonnet if necessary rather than claim. TDiAvant
Thanks for the information. From the sound of things I’m better off not going via the insurance company. I have already contacted Auto Windscreens and they will ether fix the windscreen or replace it, and they said they could even order a genuine screen but it would take a week or so to order. If I did get the paint damage done via chipsaway or a paintshop, what would happen with the paint warranty? If it starts to rust before of after the repair has been done? TDiAvant
Well talked with chipsaway and a bodyshop this morning, both are saying that it needs respray and because it's pearl paint it would need to be blended into the wings. I think I’m going to cry...... Fecking trucks
P_G
Know how you feel, nothing worse. I thought these trucks were supposed to have safety nets over the rubble nowadays? The amount of times I've seen trucks or skip truck with no safety netting and rubble brimming to the edges it always makes me nervous. To top it all they don't give a feck either! macdond
If trucks are transporting loose material without covers why not report them to the police. Or better still call the transport company if you can get the number off the side of the vehicle and let them know about it. The driver would normally get disciplined for doing this and it may make him think twice in the future.
