Couple of S-Line SE Questions

More or less decided on going for one of these but am putting it off for a little while - at least until I know we're going to need more than two seats wink.gif

Couple of questions though.....

Is this a limited time/number offer. Probably be next year before I'm looking to change.

What's the power/torque curve look like on the 220 engine - is it just like the 200 but with more at the top end or is it more all over? We have a 2.0T A3 and would like a new A4 to have a bit more grunt than this has across the range and not to have to get to the upper limits to find the extra power. The extra weight makes me wonder

recon that with BMW upping the power of ther 325 and 330 that Audi will increase the power from the A4's 2.0T engine.

Now its been out for a while and the SE and S3 proving there is alot more power available but without compromising reliability, it seems the logical way to go.

Also remember the old 1.8T started at 150, then 163, then 170, 180, 190, 225 then finally 240 in the TT before the engine was changed....

Things can old get better!!!

finally at the end of the B6, several special editions started to be seen, Sport GMbh, S-Line etc, so towards the end of the life of the B7 I should imagine more editions or limited offers.........

Not really an answer to your questions, and I can't comment on either the non SE A4, or the 2.0T A3, but......

I'm already half considering some kind of performance upgrade/re-map or something.

I've come from a turbo diesel and must say I'm underwhelmed slightly by the SE Quattro.

I'm not exactly disappointed, 'cos it's a nice frown.gif car, but it just ain't ringing my bell on a performance front.

The Golf just 'felt' quicker (which it wasn't).

I just feel I'm revving it to death to get any performance out of it......

I miss that pull from about 1850rpm.

hmmmmmm. not expecting it to be like greased lightening but want to make sure its not too far below what I'm used to performance-wise. I'm expecting some hit (especially as I'm going for the avant) but don't want to feel short changed. I'm hoping that 220 in an A4 quattro will feel at least like 200 in an A3 Quattro. Not too bothered about the low end torque as I'm used to nothing much happening below 2.5k, in fact the 2.0T is better than the 1.8T even in 225 guise at these revs.

On another note, I noticed that you have the i-Pod adapter. Does this only work with i-Pods or with any MP3 player?

It's an Apple adaptor, so i-Pod only.

Thanks Nelson, that might just fit the bill. Hope it has the full functionality or its an expensive option. Still cheaper than fitting a Phatnoise though!

Well, lets just hope the SE or other similar models are still around into the new year. I'm hoping that as mentioned above Audi do their usual stuff and gradually increase the output of the 2.0T engine.

I'm in a similar position to you. I've just ordered a 2.0T Special Edition A4 (I'm Changing From A MK5 GTI, Needed More Space), I'm hopeing the extra BHP from the upgraded engine will eliminate the extra weight difference between the Golf and the Audi to provide similar performance. I test Drove the Standard 2.0T and was supprised by how much harder I had to work the engine compared to the Golf, apart from that I found it an impressive car. Does anyone know if there is an upgrade for this engine spec available?
