alera
Well the electric rear blind isnt working on the Audi A8 I just purchased My fault should have checked, it was about the only thing I didnt check Having said that I had an RAC inspection and they missed it and they are meant to test all the toys. Anyone know how must it will cost to get fixed at an Audi dealer (Probably a fortune !) It makes a clicking sound when you push the activation button but nothing happens. My First A8 so go easy I wanted and S8 but couldnt find a decent one (Rare as) This will do for openers ! Great cars for little money..... Rapidsquirrel
Just thought i'd mention that this hot weather can affect the pop up of the blind, I think the blind plastic trim expands and get stuck in the housing. A real pain when leaving the blind down the day before and attempting to pop it on a hot afternoon drive. Good luck.

Botang
Whilst we are on blinds, mine has a problem too, it goes up and down fine except the motor keeps trying to lower it further for about 10 seconds. Its alsmost as if it should hit a contact to stop the motor but it doesnt

alera
Arse I thought it would be the motor. Anyone know how much it is to get something like this repaired at a main dealer ?
FuntimeFrankie
Mine sometimes gets stuck when its down, needs the occasional prod to get it out, gets jammed on the opening, have you tried that?

crasher
[ QUOTE ] Mine sometimes gets stuck when its down, needs the occasional prod to get it out, gets jammed on the opening, have you tried that? [/ QUOTE ] Mine does to. Part of the pannel that covers the recess on mine is a 'bit flappy' and sometimes prevents the blind from moving. Usually requires a bit of elbow grease to dislodge. I tend to leave mine up (along with the side blinds) - sort of poor-mans privacy glass Welcome to TSN by the way, like the steering wheel - very nice. login
Mine does go up ok, but when down, the motor goes for a further 10 seconds, and just sits clicking away before it eventually stops. Since we had the windows tinted though, have not used it.
A8_Tony
Welcome to TSN fella I have a similar problem with my blind, in that sometimes it'll go up without any problem irrespective of the weather. It would appear that the rear parcel shelf/plastic trim on blind, warp enough over time to cause a bit of resistance with each other. Not sure if it's possible to re-bend either item without too much cost, but I had thought that maybe the installation of a sliver of plastic on the top and bottom would alleviate this but haven't got around to doing it. alera
There is a clicking sound comming out of it when the button is pressed> I have had a go getting it loose but it seems stuck pretty fast. Also As I have never seen it up I dont really know where it comes out ! Can anyone post some pics of it up maybe ? Incidentally a few of you seem to have had problems with your blinds so its obviously a weak spot !

Definate trip to Audi service centre me thinks...
alera
It went into the audi dealer today and they fixed it along with the remote boot release catch. Luckily the blind was just a loose cable, and the catch a fuse. FYI a new motor for the rear blind is £900 + fitting, even the Audi service guy said you wouldnt be doing that.... They charged me £40 which I was very happy with. Friendly, polite good service, cheap, main dealer in Stockport get an A star.
Ska
One of those rare moments of joy at the stealers , but £

alera
I agree shocking but from some of the things I read on here I was expecting it. The guy at the garage actually had a good laugh about it, Its working fine now, in fact it looks and works like its never been used, fingers crossed it continues to work.
