geo_nr1
and it's going like a dream! Didn't realise that the performance was reduced...until last night!!!
deathchurch
Thats interesting, I had a new fan system and MAF last Thursday, and can't really say I've noticed much difference, its a bit smoother and the MPG's have gone up by a couple, no performance gain as such. TP27
Glad it all sorted out now Geo, must be a weight off your mind. All work completed c/o VW UK warranty ?
geo_nr1
I nearly dropped when I went to collect it, the girl said I will just get your bill! Fortunately she thought I was someone else...cant imagine what 3 days labour and parts would have cost. But yes, all under warranty I feel second and third has a bit more pull in it now and like you say, a bit smoother. Was enjoying it a bit much last night to appreciate the mpg, think it was showing 19mpg

Dealer did it in a day for me, I think the final charge was somewhere in the region of £600, all under warranty thank god!!!
JasT
What made you get it replaced?
deathchurch
[ QUOTE ] What made you get it replaced? [/ QUOTE ] Took it in cause the EPC light came on, and then after looking into that they noticed the fans needed to be replaced, they said the fans were pulsing. They changed the MAF after looking into the poor MPG's I was complaining about.
calumcousins
what would you define as poor MPG, just out of interest?? bearing in mind, i consider normal to be about 25-30 for motorway driving, and probably 20-25 for town work (not including the brisker drives..!) belperandy
Does anyone know if the VW Garages have a quick and easy eay of Testing the MAF. I have hoping it will be a quick job where they hook it up to a computer and job Done. I am dreading it if they want to take it out for a Thrash, which means it will get an absolute hammering off the staff and probably do the Mcdonalds lunch run. I don't wont every muppet taking my car for a spin.

That's how they'll have to do it unless they just plug a new one to see if it solves the problem.
