AvantSE
Some of you may remember I posted about a Lotus 7 replica (kit car) that I had spotted on eBay. Well, I won the auction and picked up the car last weekend, so thought I would post a picture of it using my new fancy camera that I got for my birthday yesterday It's based on a mk1/mk2 Escort and only has the 1600cc engine but still accelerates like stink due to its low weight. Just need to replace the exhaust silencer as it rattles a bit (think a baffle has come loose), but other than that, it was ready to go once I had taxed it. Funny thing is, people stop to let you out of junctions, even when they are travelling on 60mph roads - twice yesterday, people stopped and let me out when I was driving it. Never happens in the A4

AvantSE
Paid £3K for it, which is probably a lot for a VERY basic car with only a 1600, but appears to be in line with all the others on eBay, and this one was professionally built rather than nailed together in a shed. I intend to keep it until the end of next summer, by which time my A4 will be due for change, so will sell it then.
NewNiceMrMe
Looks good! Wish I had one! Has fun written all over it.
AvantSE
It is a good laugh, shame there is no wet weather gear. I can't help but looking wistfully at a Cobra replica that is on sale nearby though - the sound of a V8 filling my ears does appeal. I wonder how much I could buy it for... max_b
very nice be careful not to burn your legs on the exhaust though!
AvantSE
Managed to burn my foot on the clutch pedal - the heat soak into the cabin from the engine is immense. On the trip back from picking it up (50 mile journey), I got stuck in bad traffic and noticed that the clutch pedal became really hot and I could feel the heat through my trainer. ncr666
Nice Car I Finished building a Dax Rush last Aug. Like you I found it strange to start with how polite people were at junctions. Everyone stops to take a look, even had a little old lady waving. ncr666
