FuntimeFrankie
Just browsing Autotrader, (it is 3am after all!), and seen a couple of nice NSXs. Just curious, what are they like to drive, live with? Anybody have any experience with them
P_G
Don't know but would like to know / try. Supposedly one of the most underarted supercars in existence. Far better known as Windston Wolf's Acura!
NeilB
It was test driven by Senna so the chassis is brilliant according to every report I've read, and it is something you can live with. Shame it never sold really, but then again it nver had the right badge on the nose and boot.
Ari
Saw a black one a couple of weeks ago, it looked stunning. Very dated and cheap feeling inside though, Honda Civic ish, and I suspect that's its biggest failing, just not special enough when you're in it for a £70K car (as I believe they were new). Could be a used bargain though, how much are they?
NeilB
There's a 2004 model with 20,000 miles going for £45,000 on Autotrader.
DHA
Would still love one, especially the original pop up headlight versions
Dave
I've driven one, and whilst it's not the most powerful car in the world, as a complete package it is amazing. The handling is to die for, and when you rev that vtec.. pure pleasure! and.. you don't see many around either.
activa
My mate has had one of these for years and they are amazing in most departments, except for,as Ari says, the interior. O.K you have to put up with Civic style dash, but the trade-off for this,is Civic style reliability and that is no exageration. His car has done 150k or thereabouts and it has needed nothing but servicing, which for a car in that league is simply unbelievable. Don't be mistaken into thinking that these cars have no torque. They do run the V-Tec system and do rev to 8k+,but unlike the smaller units that have nothing below 5k,the NSX pulls pretty hard from 2k onwards and just gets better and better the further up the rev range you go. Nice handling, good equipment level, good looks IMO,and a completely unbreakable powerplant all add up to probably the best second hand buy in the supercar marketplace. Sub 15k they are now, what a bargain!

Dave
No, he had a TVR 350T
Torino101
It's other "failing" or at least to potential purchasers, other then it's ghastly interior, was that they were asking £60,000+ for a "supercar" that had only a little more poke (276bhp), than a sub 20K VXR Astra. Not exactly great for pub banter.........even though that's not what counts with this car.

[/ QUOTE ] You cannot simply compare two different cars like a VXR Astra and a Honda NSX because they have silimar bhp outputs. I don't know the figures, but I'm sure there's a massive difference in bhp per tonne and overall weight.
s4_sat
The NSX was made of aluminium and has a comparable power to weight ratio to the Ferarri F355 GTS.

[/ QUOTE ] Hence my comment - "even though that's not what counts with this car" - I was mearly refering to it's lack of bragging rights - i.e. in pub car top trumps the NSX would be a duff card to have, and I think this would have had an effect on someone going out to buy one of these new - hence why they sold so few. [/ QUOTE ] As far as I'm concerned how it goes around a corner is far more important then how much power the engine produces. Ask any racing driver, they would rather have a car where you can put it where you want, rather then have an engine that could spin the planet in the oppsite direction. The types of people who scoff about the bhp of cars without looking at the package, are the type of people who think the VXR range handle well. Thorburn
I like that the NSX is under-rated, means I might be able to afford one some day

[/ QUOTE ] It may not be the most powerful car on the road, but I can assure you that the performance defies the horsepower figure. My friends car ran a 13.4 quarter at Santa Pod last year which puts it up there with some very serious cars and way ahead of many. Remember this isn't the same as your Ferrari or TVR(No disrepect to owners of these)that may not run full power all the time due to tuning issues and alike, you can be sure that not only will it develop every hp each time you need it,but I reckon now they have a few miles under their belts they probably develop more like 300bhp!! It's a Honda, and like them or not, their tolerances are better than just about any other manufacturer!

garcon magnifique
That 276BHP thing - I'd be surprised if many NSX's actually ran as little as that. Until fairly recently, there was a gentlemen's agreement between Japanese manufacturers to limit power output to 280PS. Hence, many cars like the NSX, Skyline, Imprezas etc. were quoted at 276BHP, but as they were developed year by year their true output started creeping upwards. s4_sat
I think they started at 276 then the increased gradually to 300bhp for the type r and the to 310bhp for the 3.2 version.
FuntimeFrankie
Do you think the earlier models are reliable, they are Honda at the end of the day, but still a (almost)supercar
