Bloody Chamois

A long story on a previous post, but messed up a brand new Meg's Chamois before and then bought a Meg's Waffle Weave towel instead and then decided to try and take the Chamois back for a refund in case it worked. They just gave me a replacement and I have never used it, until today.

Was washing both cars so thought I would try out the Chamois being as though it was brand new and sitting in its wrapper still. What a waste of time. Twice around the A2 and it was still soaking wet even after wringing out the Chamois 6 times and really working at it!

Got the Waffle out and dried it in one go without even a drop of water coming out of the thing! Absolutely cracking, as you all already know!

The thing is...I cant get the smell of the Chamois off my hands and the Waffle Weave Towel is threatening to leave home as I have betrayed him! What can I do!?!

SILICONE BLADE! slap.gif

To be honest I used this but found it caused most of the stratches on my car, even cleaning it between strokes.

I am tempted to get one of those water filters and attach it to the Karcher in order to eliminate the excess water on the car. In the meantime AG Aqua Dry and Water Magnet it is.

AG - AutoGlym Aqua Dry (Clear box with green lid / bottom)

Megs- Meguiars Water Magnet Waffle Weave drying Towel (yellow waffle towel with black edging)

Both available from your local Halfrauds! 169144-ok.gif

I have used the AG synthetic Chamois and the Meg's Waffle Weave Towel on two different cars on the same day and found the Meg's WWT to be far superior to the AG. Each to their own I say as it is down to what works for you and how much enjoyment you get form it too!

Not disagreeing with you, the thing with the towel is when there is a lot of residual water on the car it struggles, particulalry on a A4 upward size car. Hence why I use the AG Aqua first to remove excess and then Megs towel to get the best finish. 169144-ok.gif

I use a silicone blade to remove most of the water from the surface, and then the water magnet. Otherwise there's just far too much water left on the car and you end up streaking water around the panels.

Ben you better not let me catch you using one NONO3.GIF

Just to add my two penneths worth, I user a cobra guzzler (available from Motorgeek) and its excellent, I suspect its very similar in performance to the Megs water magnet being waffle weave. To avoid having to mop up loads of water try this, remove the adaptor from the end of your hosepipe so just the water is flowing out in a smooth stream. Now, start at the top and slowly move the stream of water down the panel and you will find the water seems to sheet off the car leaving only a few spots for the towel to collect. Its quite hard to describe the process, give it a go and you will see what I mean. 169144-ok.gif

get over to clean & shiny and have a look for a blue waffle drying towel. I have used loads of synthetic and chamois and nothing compares.

Oh and shark - sheet the water off with an open hose before using the drying towel. Takes most of the beads with it hence less water to absorb and less physical wiping over the car (poss screatches).
