seventyseven
Noisy gearbox on my mk3 finally chucked in the towel today-after only 183K an'all. Happened on the way to work & I limped home, having lost 4th & 5th gears. Sold it to a mechanic for £125-with 1 months tax & 16 day's mot. Feeling quite upset, which I didn't expect but it served me well & owed me nothing. Just had to get rid. Now carless until mk5 arrives-Watch it be late!! Tarmac_Terrorist
How long is it now 'til you get your GTI? Not a good weather forecast for non motorists!
Simonl
I passed an immaculate R reg GTI Mk3 the othe day, I always liked them regardless of their bad press. In my eyes it was super rapid off the line in first and second, i could happily have another.

rs32
[ QUOTE ] Ordered a car I've never driven,am I in for a pleasant surprise???? [/ QUOTE ] normally I would say that it could be a big risk - but unless you hate cars that drive and handle well I would say you'll be just fine - and that's only having driven one for around an hour
RedRobin
So true!! Quasi, I seriously doubt very much if you'll be disappointed. The reasons why Jeremy Clarkson and many others, including many of us TSNers, praise the Mk5 GTI is simply because it really is a great car - One of that the manufacturer got right. Obviously not 100% - Nothing ever is - But it's a great allrounder. We all look forward to reading what you think, once she arrives. Meanwhile, it's plenty of sleepless nights - Tee Hee .
