multijim
I pick up my new Tornado Red GTI! Really can't wait, went to see it in its pre-valeted state on Sunday, and I've been losing sleep since I've chosen the following spec: 3 Door DSG 18" Monzas Bi-Xenons Leather Anthracite Highline Computer Armrest Reverse Sensors Winter Pack I'll take some pics over the weekend... been a bit of a lurker on this forum for a while so I've got a good idea on running-in/initial checks.. however, does anyone know much about the armrest USB connectivity? I noticed it in the 2007 brochure, but the sales guys didn't know too much about it yet. Does it show up the first 6 mp3 folders on the stereo, and then its just a matter of scrolling through them from there, or do you need to create 6 "playlists"? Simonl
Hello mate Nice spec. The most annoying thing about a new GTI is waiting for it to run in (1k miles) that wait was nearly as painfull as the 12 week wait. DSG takes a while to understand. It has it's own personality, but you'll soon get the hang of it... then you'll be tearing around country lanes, banging up and down through the paddles, spooling that turbo up and cocking your rear tyre at every opportunity! multijim
Thanks LeMan! Yeh I've heard there is a bit of a learning curve with the DSG but once you've got it there's no going back Now if only I can get Prodrive to let me use their track for a day since I work in the same building! Jack_is_Back
Hi Jim. Remember to give the car a thorough check before you accept it. Sorry to be doom and gloom, but I noticed a tiny ding on one of my alloys a few days after taking delivery. I know for certain I didn't do it but there's nothing the dealer will do about it now. Happy motoring.

multijim
Thanks guys! I'm gonna give the car a right going over tomorrow before I sign on the dotted line, I'd have had more of a look on sunday but it was tight in the corner of the storage bay, right up next to a stunning R32... Yep thats the one Petsy, the garage couldn't give me a price on parts/install but reckoned it would be similar to the Ipod connection (about 150 quid) so I'll hassle them more tomorrow. multijim
Hi Jon To be honest the sales guys at Trust in Stourbridge weren't very helpful at all, so ended up going to Inchcape in Bridgnorth instead. They've been great through the whole order process as well as arranging superb finance, but couldn't do a lot with discounts I'm afraid. They gave me a good price on my car as part-ex, and threw in tyre warranty for free, other than that they wouldn't move on the price. Either way I would definately recommend them if you're in the market for one
JonGTI
Yeah already spoke to them, would like to deal with them, couldnt get them to budge, mind you I was too busy talking to the cute receptionist lol. How long has your car been on order? Also as im hopefully deciding soon as them if you get any kind of referal commission and I could mention your name, split the money. I know some dealers do this. multijim
Yep good idea, always worth a try! I ordered my car at the end of May, and it arrived at the dealer a couple of weeks ago - I wanted to hold off until the 1st Sept for the 56 plate - so that's about 10-11 weeks which isn't bad If you do go there again speak to a girl called Holly, she's been looking after my order and has been great, even coming in on her day off to see me. Best of luck mate
rozzerfodder
Nice spec mate, same as mine bar xenons and winter pack. You will love every minute, hope the dealer does not throw in free swirl marks as seems to come with every valet. Theres plenty of advice in the cleaning forum and links if they do and you want to get rid of them. Enjoy
