vanillaice
Hi, An S3 at the right price has just come up for sale. It appears to have the chorus stereo as opposed to the BOSE. I like my music, should this be an issue? Opinions please. Cheers, ICE

vanillaice
So is BOSE more than just the head unit? Cheers, ICE
ncr666
Bose is the speakers and amp system. Which you can have with any head unit. I have BOSE and wouldn't be without it. I Like my music. ncr666
sitas3
The only plus points in having Bose are that it helps sell the car better and it sounds a little better than the stock system. Otherwise go aftermarket. I will if I buy a new Audi again. Bose is overrated IMHO.
vanillaice
Hmmm. I have a decent Pioneer head unit, but never intended to put it in an S3, because it doesnt go along with the stealthiness of them. I didn't want to go down the route of installing after market speakers and amps, devaluing the car in the process. Any way, this is what I've spotted. http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/www/CAR...200635248078809 Seems a good price to me Cheers, ICE
Tunbridge
I wouldn’t buy one without the Bose, I like my music and IMO the Bose makes a big difference over the standard set up. I was faced with the choice of two near identical S3’s when I bought mine, one with heated seats and no Bose and one with Bose but no heated seats. I know the heated seats are good but you use the stereo every day but the heated seats are only any good in the winter. Bose every time for me. audiquattro
I've got bose in my 1999 A3 Quattro, sounds great only downside is the subwoofer, not sure if the system fitted to the facelift model is any better. I've now installed a seperate sub and amp now sounds much better.
vanillaice
The trouble is I'm used to an aftermarket sub. I'm just concerned that the BOSE sub won't provide the same levels of bass. I think I am gonna keep looking for an S3 that has BOSE as if I have to I'd sooner just add a sub rather than a complete new install. graemep
Just to add, you can have Bose with the Concert head unit, as in my S3. Used to think Bose was just overrated until I bought the car ex-demo, and have since walked away from other cars simply for the fact that they did not have it, and it is expensive to retro fit. vanillaice
Has anyone got a picture of the head unit that has a "Bose 6CD in dash"? Cheers, ICE
Dandle
The 6 CD headunit is just called Symphony II the Bose upgrade is just better speakers and an amp(inc a sub).
Srcoates
To tell if it has got bose you can do one of two things (other than hear the difference) 1) Look in the hatch above the left rear wheel in the boot - you should see a Bose Sub. 2) All speaker grills in the car have a Bose Badge on them. I was used to an aftermarket sub before I got mine and the std. sub is more than adequate for 'normal' usage... Although if you want to rattle windows you may want something else! Ps Have a look in the classifieds on this site... All prices are very negotiable!
