BeakerBuddy
Got the second service on my S4 arranged for the end of the week having now hit 31k miles it's flashing demands at me. I want to check sourcing my own oil rather than just taking dealer supplied. Where do you guys get it from and do any of you know of any current deals? Going to need about 10 litres (service will need ~8l) so wondering if online prices may be more competitive. I'm going to decline their kind offer to replace 8 plugs at this time as they said that it's a 40k change and mine has done 31k. Like I want to fork out £110 on plugs 10 thousand miles early! p.s. fyi I was quoted £480 for the service with oil and plugs. £370 without plugs and probably £300 if I supplied the oil, Hatfield Audi. Cheers, Beaker

Cheers, Beaker [/ QUOTE ] Are you on AVS or fixed servicing Beaker? Also, did they confirm £300 without plugs and oil because if they did you're getting a bargain on the oil at £70 for 9 litres that the V8 uses. To buy that in Halfrauds will cost you around £100+ and I wouldn't imagine even with Opie's good discounts and the hassle factor it is worth it. BeakerBuddy
I'm still not sure how I tell whether it's AVS or not? I just drive it and respond to the service indicator message. As for the quoted price he said ~£70 but I think he forgot how much oil it would take. He said it was £12.50 per litre and would be Castrol SLX 5W30. He did quote £370 inc oil so I guess that without oil would actually be nearer £250?
P_G
If you are at 31K miles how many other services are logged in the book, if AVS this would only be its second (although a bit early) as mine is due it's second at 36,500 miles. It should also say in your service schedule if it has been changed to fixed or your stealer should know. As for the oil, I think you may be right in the miscalculation in that most cars ar 5-6 litres, V8's are 9.
