cruiser647
What do you mean - change it? Change the bulb or change the actual light cluster?

Edd_W
AFAIR it is through a small hatch in the inside rear panel?
Guest crackdown
This isn't a "There's only one working," is it? Audi cheapskates only fit the gubbins into one of the rear fog light units. The other one's a dummy.

TTR_Cornwall
guess it dosn't need replacing then, why do Audi do this and confuse new owners !+
Edd_W
Safety issue, not cost, honest. Th etheory is that one light will stand outas a fog light and not 'hide' brake lights at times of poor visibility with a halo of light.

bircham
It's definitely a safety issue - the eu have said that cars should have only one rear fog light - makes sense if you think about it - travelling along a road and you spot two red lights ahead of you - either they are the normal taillights of a car a fair distance away or they are the two foglights of a car much closer than you think they are. The distance between foglights is generally narrower than that of the rear lights so the car would seem that it is further away than it is. Are we so cynical that cost has anything to do with it on cars costing 20k plus?
Guest crackdown
I stand corrected. However, 'Cynical' is my middle name!
Edd_W
Maybe someone had added the additional rear light before you owned it, assuming you did not have it from new? I only picked up that as the reason because I have seem this raised many times in different areas. I may of course be wrong and it is simply cost and nothing more thought provoking than that.
