kumar32
Hello, What a great forum - I've not long registered here and would appreciate some advice, I've had my MK4 R32 (2003 Plate) for just a few months - My insurance is due for renewal on Saturday - current insurer has quoted me just under £1200 (Highway) I have 4 years no claims discount and also have 2 speeding convictions not picked up while owning the R32. I have tried confused.com the cheapest was kwik-fit @ £714 but with £400 excess. Can someone kindly advise if kwik-fit are reliable or point me in the direction where to try - Directline = 1,038.45 also tried Barclays car insurance = £1,213. I appreciate your feedback I will be asking Q's so that I can educate myself Thanks

Big_Al
I found RAC to be the cheapest when I renewed, beating other quotes by 80 quid. Welcome to TSN
kumar32
I've checked out performancedirect - quoted £826, one thing I'm unsre about is to what to choose when asked if car on public road/car port/garaged/private road etc - I normally put the car in the garage sometimes it's at the front of the house. I've just amended the quote to car parked in garage and have a new price of £789.45... What do you guys think I should state, and if anything happend to the car while parked outside the house will I still be covered? Thanks

rincewind
I guess it depends on where you live, but I got my Mk5 (no mods) insured with privilege for £420. That's with no points and 6 years no claims. Edit: Just ran the info through performancedirect and got quoted £

deathchurch
I was with Elephant, but my policy is up for renewal on the 18th, with my SP30 which I picked up in March they wanted an extra £200, went with Admiral with a price of £570 which was what I paid with Elephant last year. hotdog
Admiral here. Can't remember the exact premium but it saved me £80 over last years price. No courtesy car included though but for me thats no problem

kumar32
Petsy, The excess is around 400 / 250 my bonus is not protected should I consider protecting? Still not found a decent quote I've been searching for a few days now...performance direct seem to be the cheapest...any thoughts
martin275
We’ve just renewed and gone with Sainsburys (it’s actually esure). The second cheapest was Norwich Union, who we were with last year, but Sainsburys really ‘quoted me happy’. How does the following sound? 2005 BMW 130i M Sport, 2 x 30 something drivers with 3 points each, £150 excess, protected no claims, courtesy car, legal protection etc… £377 all in I could have had it for £365 with a £250 excess, but what the heck! I would go with the protected bonus premium, you only have to have someone vandalise your car for it to be worthwhile.
kumar32
Martin, Thanks for the input - I'll check sainsburys online now and post my findings...

Dan32
I went thru Autotrader insurance quote generator which came up as Sainsburys being the cheapest but having since done a few mods (!) to the car, the premium is creeping up and their knowledge of what I've done is minimal (after fitting cold air intake, the girl at sainsburys bank asked if it was something to do with the air conditioning - bless). Renewal due in nov and going to go thru specialist broker for modified car as believe the premium will not be altered too much throughout the year as I do mods. Sainsburys also would not allow the mods to increase the power over 250bhp! I think 6463 would probably do that on its own!
