Si_GTi
All, I have got the opportunity to purchase an OMP front lower strut brace for my Polo GTi for a decent price (£20) and am looking for some advice... basically will it make any difference to the handling of my Polo! The suspension is currently OEM standard but I'm planning some new FK -60mm shocks and springs Is the front lower strut brace a worthy purchase? Rustynuts
If it's what I'm thinking of, the same sort of part is fitted to the Audi TT and fitting it to a Golf or Bora makes a big difference to the handling.
Pincher
Made a huge difference on my Leon Cupra. For £20, I'd go for it. Takes about 10-15 minutes to fit
Si_GTi
Its one of these badgers... ... I've stated my interest so hopefully will get a reply back later - thanks for the quick replies fellas!
Mook
It'll only make a decent difference if you fit a top strut brace as well - you need to stiffen up the car as much as possible and doing both will make a major difference. Because of problems with shipping, I ended up running the Neuspeed top strut brace for a fortnight before the bottom one turned up, which made turn-in a lot more responsive. Si_GTi
I understand from what I have read on various forums that the top front strut brace has a more profound effect on tightening up the handling than the bottom one does, but at this price I thought it might be too good to pass up! A top front brace could well follow in time, but I want my new FK suspension components first
Mook
You're right on that one Si, although using both stiffens up the car that bit more

Mouse
I've got one but still not fitted it yet. The upper one makes a tiny tiny difference
Mook
It will only ever make a small difference if that is the only mod you run on the car. When you add uprated anti-roll bars and (maybe later) uprated suspension, all of the individual components together will make a major difference. pugboy
I dont think you will even notice a difference on the road when running standard suspension. If your motor is slammed and running sticky tyres then I guess it will make things sharper. So I would say only purchase it if you plan to do several other mods. Si_GTi
As per my previous post I am planning further suspension mods... Going to purchase an OMP front upper strut brace soon and have the both upper and lower braces fitted at the same time, new -60mm shocks and springs can wait a bit.
