RedRobin
I've just seen a BBC News Spotlight SW piece which announced a safety campaign. BUT....FIlm footage of an accident which stated that the biker was at fault by making a "misjudgement" was totally wrong!!! WTF? - It was clear to my eyes that the car was in the wrong by clipping the bike's rear as it went to overtake. This is prejudice at its worst. nutkins
There was an intersting letter in one of the Bike mags this month from a guy who was doing 48 past a manned speed gun on a 50mph limit road. He said the guy with the gun had it on him the whole time he was in view, while several cars were going by at what he said was at least 60. There is a lot of prejudice towards Bikes sadly, which is a shame as my observation has increased 10 fold in a car (since I started riding a Bike too). Just one of the positives of Biking that are overlooked.
Grimbold
Have you also seen the latest advert run by Transport For London? This is the one which shows mundane things which are taken for granted (the car which never moves ...etc) and then switches to a motorbike hitting a car door with a voiceover talking about the "car door you never saw.... the lampost... "the legs you will never use" etc. The implication is that it is the motorcyclist's fault for hitting the door - no critisism is mantioned of the numpty of a car driver who flung open the door woithout looking properly. I found this advert to be offensive and upsetting especially for spouses of motorcyclists not to mention unbalanced in its presentation. If you agree - please complain to the Advertising Standards Agency - you can fill in the form on-line. I did and got the "bugs" response but if enough people object then we may make the point. It is always the biker's fault! Wel b******s to that. I've had enough. Please make your case.
