ktay
Today I found my nearside front wheel arch and back covered with black oil. I haven't been to the garage yet but if anyone can shed a light on what could be leaking and am I looking for a big bill to fix it? Thanks. Rustynuts
Well, as your car is a VW Beetle 1303s with the engine at the back, I can see no reason why your front wheel arch would have oil in it, unless you inadvertently ran over an oil derrick on the way home from work. Of course, it could be that my crystal ball is a little hazy tonight, so could you just confirm which model Passat you drive?
ktay
Hi Wish I had a watercooled beetle but mine is a 98 1.8T Passat. Any help?
Rustynuts
That's more like it. Now we know what we're thinking about. First up, is it oil? You haven't split a driveshaft boot or something and spread the grease round the wheel arch have you?
Wobby
My money is on the driveshaft boot split in half. Had similar on my car. A bit of grease seems to go a long way
