prt57
Hi, just thinking about the spec on the R32 that I am hoping to order. My current GTI has a light headlining and a sunroof so lots of light streams in. Also quite nice to have it wound back for lots of fresh air. A new R32 has a dark headlining, is it gloomy and would the light from the sunroof be of benefit? Thanks for your thoughts, prt.
Tarmac_Terrorist
Not had a sunroof in my previous 2 cars and not missed one. As you say, it's only really for light as the climate control sorts the temperature. Personally I would rather put the money into another optional extra. A sunroof is of greater benefit to passengers IMO - when I'm driving I don't notice light levels in the car to be honest.

RedRobin
The sunroof on the Mk5 R32/GTI is especially good. Even when closed, it's nice to let some extra light in - In fact in a year I have never closed the solid internal panel once. It has all the settings you would expect and is even good at speed if you let down a rear window just a centimetre to release air pressure build up - For 3-door cars use the front window. It's a glorious blue skied sunny day today and I've had my sunroof fully open this morning.

v6tas
[ QUOTE ] Everytime [/ QUOTE ] Yes love my sunroof but during the odd really hot day i have learnt the hard way that bald patches dont take kindly to a long drive exposed to the sun !!!!! prt57
Looks like a sunroof is now on the Menu. I have a test drive sorted for Saturday where one of the things that I will check out is will an R32 drive up onto my drive without scratching the front valance. We have a fairly steep drive up off the road and I need to rest this out. My neighbour has a TT and has no trouble if he takes it slowly as we have a shared drive. What do you think, is a TT higher or lower at the front than an R32. Hopefully I will be able to give it some beans on the way back to the garage. It is a DSG model and I would order manual but beggers cannot be choosers!! Keep your thoughts coming, prt.
