Filthy smelly stuff! SAUER0421.GIF

two seperate garages, purchase small amounts of Diesel as im just running around in a loan car, no where near half full , let alone full, and I seemingly always seem to end up with diesel on my hands. smashfreakB.gif

yet i fill up to the brim with Petrol in the S3 every week or so, and petrol in all my cars for the last 10 years plus, and rarely get any smell/spilliage on me.

The latter one is my local station, and i know for a fact, they keep the pumps well maintained and cleaned regularly.

What the hell do Diesel owners do with it, to get it sodding everywhere? confused.gif

Odd that, because I encountered exactly the same on Sunday gone.

I filled my wifes 320d up and whoever had used the pump before me seemed to have got more diesel on the pump handle than in their car. So you wipe your hands as best you can, get in your car, and drive off.

The next day your wife moans at you because her car stinks of diesel because the smell of it is now on the steering wheel.

A few weeks ago I was behind an 05 plated BMW X5 3.0d on the way down from Edinburgh and he booted it past a line of traffic. His acceleration was impressive. However, it was lost on me after a second because the huge cloud of black soot he emitted completely blocked my view!!! I've never seen an X5 chuck so much crap out of the back.

I often look in my rear view mirror in the A4 after changing down - and it's amazing how quickly the traffic behind me disappears from view. yelrotflmao.gif

When I worked at a Shell station we used to get no end of people complaining about getting there hands dirty on the diesel pumps (we did have gloves for diesel users in a little dispenser, but nobody used them complaining was more fun I guess).

I think the problem occurs because some people just don't get that diesel froths up when its going into the tank and with some fillers it will spit back over the users hand and therefore the handle. They then didn't tell us so we didn't clean it.

I always no matter what, take some disposable towels from the point provided, wrap 1 around the handle before picking it up, and the wrap another around that so I can pull the trigger.

Care should also be taken when inserting the nozzle as some diesel may be left in there from the previous customer (Not me, I get every last drop out as I have to pay so much for it!!) and then you don't get it on you at all.

Not too much hassle ffs. Same principle applies when checking tyre pressures (brake dust). Use some common sense!!

I don't mind the smell of diesel. I do remember being covered in it several times at a local truck stop where I used to fill up with my Keyfuels card. I could fill the tank on my ZS from empty in 38 seconds flat with that pump!

I thought you said that was a fetish at the time? yelrotflmao.gif
