[Audi A3/S3] Door lock bu99ered again....

So after having the door latch replaced under warranty for the usual "door always open" fault, I had an incident a week or so ago where the batteries in my remote ran out and the only way for me to access the vehicle was mechanically via the key.

I attempt to open the door by turning the key in the lock and the damn thing won't open!!!

Basically, the dealer techs haven't put something back together correctly and I was just wondering if one of you guys who have had the door cards off before would know what it is?

When turning the key the door pin will not rise and the car stays locked, however, from open I can turn the key the pin drops and it locks properly.

I'm guessing it's some kind of rod? The pin has always been a bit lower since it's been fixed which has bugged me and it makes a funny "clink" on locking.

As it was working via the remote and I had no reason to check otherwise I assumed it mechanically worked also.

The dealers scratched my door badly when replacing the original lock and had to respray a section so I'm a little reluctant to let them near it again....

....It's booked in for Friday and I've already warned them if they botch it there will be trouble.... FIREdevil.gif

There is a plastic guard covering all the rods an lock mechanism, but that is fairly easy to remove, as is the door card (couple of screws under the handle area are the hardest to find when you remove it for the first time!!!). It is a fairly long rod connecting the pin to the lock and I would say that they have snagged this on something, and it is preventing the lock from turning. It will probably only take 30mins to wip the door card off to have a quick investigation.
