1997 A4 Avant Rear Wiper

The Rear wiper on my car has given up the ghost. The wiper will stutter but not move. I have taken to motor apart applied WD40 and put it back together. Can anybody tell me how I a can test the motor please? I have a feed to one of the terminals, Black/Yellow wire, but nothing else. The only thing I can think of is the brushes are worn down, but then the relay may be playing up.

Totally frustrated so any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

The rear wiper on my Y2K A3 judders as it wipes the rear window. It has always done this since I bought it in Feb 2003. It seems as if the motor is struggling with the load. I have replaced the wiper but it still does this. Maybe the mechanism needs rebuilding or something??

Thanks Tobes49,

I don't want to act stupid, but by Signal you mean a power feed? I am still trying to get to grips with this and have somebody coming to look at buying the car this afternoon mad.gif I have an extra wire which I believe is Reference.

If I put a temp wire between the perm live and what I believe to be the signal, should the motor run?

Thanks for youe help.

Audi have jig to correct this.

basically, they bend the arm to a specific dimension indicated by the jig to stop it juddering.

never worked on a wiper motor, but from the sounds of tobes it has...

a ground = 0v (probably locally earthed (my guess) )

permanent live = 12v

and signal = switched live 12v

if this is the case,( and im not familiar with the wiper connections) then i should see no reason why the motor would not move if the last two were linked.
