Johntheobald
The Rear wiper on my car has given up the ghost. The wiper will stutter but not move. I have taken to motor apart applied WD40 and put it back together. Can anybody tell me how I a can test the motor please? I have a feed to one of the terminals, Black/Yellow wire, but nothing else. The only thing I can think of is the brushes are worn down, but then the relay may be playing up. Totally frustrated so any help would be much appreciated. Thanks. Tobes49
the motor will have a permant power and earth, then a signal wire to start it wiping, Check you have these at the motor.
Johntheobald
Thanks for the answer. I have a permanant feed to the black/yellow wire. I also have an earth to the brown wire. The two middle wires are neither earth or live. I stripped the motor down this afternoon and looked at the brushes. Strange thing is I seem to have earth on both brushes! Funki
The rear wiper on my Y2K A3 judders as it wipes the rear window. It has always done this since I bought it in Feb 2003. It seems as if the motor is struggling with the load. I have replaced the wiper but it still does this. Maybe the mechanism needs rebuilding or something?? Johntheobald
Thanks Tobes49, I don't want to act stupid, but by Signal you mean a power feed? I am still trying to get to grips with this and have somebody coming to look at buying the car this afternoon I have an extra wire which I believe is Reference. If I put a temp wire between the perm live and what I believe to be the signal, should the motor run? Thanks for youe help.

[/ QUOTE ] never worked on a wiper motor, but from the sounds of tobes it has... a ground = 0v (probably locally earthed (my guess) ) permanent live = 12v and signal = switched live 12v if this is the case,( and im not familiar with the wiper connections) then i should see no reason why the motor would not move if the last two were linked. Funki
Thanks Paul! How would I go about adjusting the arm to correct the judder? Do you have the details on this jig? Thanks again
Paul
found somewhere on the net based on the 8L A3 97 onwards , and was issued before the 8P A3 was even invented! But your get the idea, if the wipers have changed, (Aero? ) then the procedure might have.
