Woppum
I had just started to get used to them when my dad asked me if he could have a go in the car. Before he even got in he took one look at them and said they were about the worst seats he had ever seen. He said they dont give you support in places like the lower back where you need it. He said the combination of that and the combination of no lower back support and the fact they push your shoulders forward is very bad as it curls your body up. He very seriously said that I should seriously consider changing the seats as 2 years with them could give me some back trouble! Now he has been know to be over cautious but he knows a poo load about backs and with the miles im going to be doing, I am a little worried. 2 things: Is he being over cautious or is what he is saying true? What seats are available? Will they have the function of moving so people can get in the back?
sparkzz
well tbh mate, i have had a slipped disc in my back and have suffered with trapped nerve's for a good 15 years now. i have recently been looking at buying a new car and test drove a CSL last weekend, and i thought the CSL were amazing seats. I have had an E46 M3, which were very comfortable seats, but i found the CSL's seats excellent. I have a very "sit forward" driving style, but these made me sit back and relax. Yes i found they pinned the shoulders forward which was odd. One thing that has stopped me buying a CSL in the past was the seat, but after actually driving one i found them extremely comfortable and seriously wouldnt be put off by them. If you still think you wanna change head over to BM3W, a guy on there has just done a conversion to recaros iu think. Hope this helps..
NewNiceMrMe
The CSL seats, as well as standard M3 seats, are acknowledged as being excellent. Don't listen to him Wopps. He drives a Maybach.
Ben
There is lower back support of sorts, pull the fabric away from the seat (it's on velcro) and there should be a lumber pad that is also on velcro. You can move it about to suit. The seats are a compromise for day to day use, but you knew all about them when you got the car. Didn't hurt my back at all, sitting upright is much better than slumping backwards for hours on end, didn't your parents tell you not to slump at the table? Cheers Ben
