muircat
Hi guys. Bought a 2nd hand R32 with 40000 on the clock had a trouble free 7000miles so far. When I boot it with a series of quick pull-offs where the haldex kicks in I can smell clutch burning? Seems fine with normal driving. Any theories? New clutch perhaps... or less off-the-line booting it
muircat
thanks, just wanted to check if the haldex was susceptible to playing up with those symptoms. Its not a strong smell but can smell it when you climb out the car or the windows are down. Maybe time to spend some money on a new clutch, spend it like you got it!! Daemon
Haldex unit is sealed, and the clutch pack it uses is lubricated. You'll never smell it. If you smell burning clutch, it's probably your clutch burning. One thing about launching the R32 really hard. It's better to spin the tires than to slip the clutch. That means, with a healthy clutch it's better to rev it up to 5000+ rpms and pop the clutch and get some tire spin, than to try to launch "quickly" at 4000 rpms. If you're smelling the clutch while launching less agressively than that, it's probably just a bad clutch. ian
Roughnec
Yea, but find out if the previous owner was young or had agressive tendancies. Perhaps your wrong to think its ur fault Peace of mind
