The trouble with any diesel is the lack of revs..

yes, it will have colossal power, but it'll all be over by 4000rpm and you'll be looking for another cog to do it all again...

it's all power, lurch, more power.. more lurch..

I defy anyone to drive a turbo diesel quickly and smoothly.

You could probably pop that thing in one gear, 6th, and then just blast about all day without having to change gear! BUt I'm guessing it be some fancy-slick autobox.

Easy one to answer. DSG or Tiptronic. Diesel power delivery is ideally suited to an auto. Im sure Audi have some auto box under development for it.

Depends on the power/torque curve. Most diesels peak around the 3k rpm mark then tail off towards about 4k, and between 4-5k (5k being the usual redline) it dies a bit.

If its mapped so it will build power right through to about 4k - 4.5k, it will drive much like a petrol car and you get none of that "getting there... going.. going very fast... run out of revs... have to start all over again..." that you get on most diesels.

Just wait til someone along the lines of REVO get their hands on that engine! notworthy.gif

This is not like most diesel engines it is the new engine developed by audi with technolgy from the Le mans winning vehicle.
