Dave
The trouble with any diesel is the lack of revs.. yes, it will have colossal power, but it'll all be over by 4000rpm and you'll be looking for another cog to do it all again... it's all power, lurch, more power.. more lurch.. I defy anyone to drive a turbo diesel quickly and smoothly.

BUt I'm guessing it be some fancy-slick autobox.

Im sure Audi have some auto box under development for it.
Dave
DSG would make the perfect sense.. but how much torque It would also need about 8 gears
jimdiesel
No Dave it would probably only need 1 gear.

EssFour
Would not liked to be stuck behind that for 2 reasons. 1) It would leave me for dead and 2)I would lose sight of all in front of me because the amount of soot it would chuck out in the process

Most diesels peak around the 3k rpm mark then tail off towards about 4k, and between 4-5k (5k being the usual redline) it dies a bit. If its mapped so it will build power right through to about 4k - 4.5k, it will drive much like a petrol car and you get none of that "getting there... going.. going very fast... run out of revs... have to start all over again..." that you get on most diesels. Just wait til someone along the lines of REVO get their hands on that engine!
