Woppum
[ QUOTE ] Meanwhile the Vectra’s big brother has had an even more dramatic power boost, thanks to a supercharger. The limited-edition VXR500 is based on the standard 6.0-litre Monaro VXR, but uses forced induction to take the power from 403 to 500PS and torque up from 530Nm to a massive 677Nm. In addition to the positive displacement supercharger, the conversion also includes an upgraded fuel system, clutch revisions and bespoke engine tune. It’s expected that the VXR500 will have a sub five second 0-60 time and a top speed in excess of 180mph, and yet it is surprisingly relaxing to drive, as most of the torque is available low down in the engine’s rev range. This limited edition model is available for only £35,995 on-the-road. That’s less than half the price of any other coupe with 500bhp! Woppum
Good find ehhh! Wonder if they have their information right... 36k sounds very very little. I thought it cost alot to add a supercharger to one of those. 70k rings a bell...
P_G
£36K was the cost of the original 6.0L VXR, so with a supercharger surely it would be more, like another £36K?
MOSE
This was announced at the Tuning GP a few weekends back. The supercharger will fit nicely on top of the LS2 lump and will cost a modest £4995, together with all of the necessary adaptions mentioned above. Just to note that this car is a STOCK car with a supecharger added and does NOT come with the WORTEC cat back, rippy etc that comes at an extra cost. SO for a car with 500ps and 677nm of torque, it puts cars like the M6 to shame I think. And all this from a car that has oNLY been supercharged and not fully WORTECd. Here's a few more pics. Here's a recent press release as well [ QUOTE ] PRESS RELEASE………… VAUXHALL and WORTEC are delighted to announce the official release of the MONARO VXR 500!!! Based on the acclaimed 6.0 Monaro VXR, but with the addition of a Positive Displacement Supercharger, upgraded fuel system, clutch revision and bespoke engine tune. The performance is staggering!! The Monaro transformed from fast GT, to outright Supercar. Delivering 500 hp and over 500lbft of torque, the car has been extensively tested on UK roads, and is designed specifically for our unique driving environment. Reliability was always a key objective and this has been achieved through over 50,000 miles of testing. As such the car will carry a full three year warranty. Servicing schedules are the same at 10,000 miles or 12 months and servicing costs remain the same as a standard car. And the price ??? Consider the BMW M6, 507 hp and 520nm torque for £81,760. VXR 500, 500 hp and 677NM of torque!! £35995!!! On the road. The car is available immediately and exclusively in Black, Red or Silver, from Greens Vauxhall 01634 246755 and numbers are strictly limited. Are you really VXR enough????? [/ QUOTE ] Some of you on her will know the BO55, who will shortly have this little beauty added to his Monaro that has so far been given the full Wortec treatment. So needless to say, the car will be pushing above 500hp anf god knows how much more torque. Can't wait for a spin in that!!
NeilB
What are the runnings costs like of the Monaro MOSE?
BO55VXR
Bring it on baby... Trouble is, S/Cs are still in transit... But still hoping to be the first... The f'kn suspense is killing me. Still, gives me a chance to get the new brakes nice and bedded in. If you want more, Vauxhall have the VXR Ute, aka VXR 600 - Yes, you read it correctly six hundred and in a pickup, sadly, it's a Public Relations car and will never become available, but it shows what you can get out of an LS2 with a little bit of work
MOSE
Is there talk of the VXR 600 being available for the Monaro??
BO55VXR
MMmm.. Interesting question... In the Monaro, probably not, not officially anyway, but as the Maloo has already been upped to 600, then the tune must exist, so it would be a question of asking (and paying) the right people. The VXR 500 is only running at 5 psi with no intercooler and on standard exhausts. So, increase the boost, add an intercooler and full Wortec exhaust, then you're gonna get very close. However, if they decided to put the LS7 in the new VE series, I think 600 would be, err, entry level.
MOSE
Fecking hell....... so in theory, with the Harrop sitting on top of the lump, the boost can be upped a bit, together with some more goodies?? Instead of buying another blower?

BO55VXR
Dont think there's much difference between the LS2 and LS7... maybe just the heads and a remap, so shouldn't be too much effort
MOSE
[ QUOTE ] What are the runnings costs like of the Monaro MOSE? [/ QUOTE ] Tell me what ya need to know mate and I will give you specifics. I've had my Monaro almost a year now and have been well pleased with the running costs. A HELL of a lot cheaper to run than my E46 M3 cab by far. And in fairness the mods are pocket happy as well. BRING IT ON!!!
cruiser647
Good work by GM. For £36K that must be a no-brainer.........
