robe
Just about to order my GTI (company car). With options i'm right up to my limit £ so i have decided NOT to go for metallic. I can't decide between black and white. Had thought black would be the way to go, but having seen the pics of the white 3 door on this site (awesome photography btw) i'm having second thoughts..! Can anyone post some great photos of a non-metallic black 3 door with 18" to convince me i'm right?? TIA. Rob. BTW, full spec will be as follows: 3 door manual, iPod in the centre armrest18" wheels, sunroof, Winter Pack, Cruise.

Richy
Had a look at a pearl effect black on at the dealers the other day, which looked quite nice. Not seen a non-metalic though. White looks amazing, so I would probably go for that out of the two.
SamD
FWIW Black cars are harder to keep clean than white ones (I have owned both)....
TP27
Metallic/Pearl paint is £350. Cruise control is £270 but if you get the dealer to fit Cruise after delivery, it's only £150. If you've got a fixed budget, get Pearl Paint at delivery and add the cruise later ? The matt black is not right on a GTi IMHO !

Ranter
I think you can polish a non-metallic to a much better, deeper shine. Saying that though, I've ordered pear Black
winrya
Problem with black is its turned me into an obsessive car detailer. On holiday this week and so far i've spent £240 ordering a pc, transformer and new polishes to go with it. Also sonus drying towels. I wont go into last weeks purchases. JonnyGTi
I think Oxfordlad got a non-metallic black 3dr one a few months back, from Euroimports. I think he posted some photos as well.
oxfordlad
This should be what you require: MY2007 3dr flat black (MINE ) Diamondbrite the car when you first get it, wax regular. Use a micro fibre cleaning mitt and you will be fine. In my opinion when cleaned and waxed you cannot beat this colour.

oxfordlad
I also have a PC, but as my car is still only a few months old it’s not something I have used much on it, only to remove a scratch on the rear of the car. It’s a good investment if you’re planning to keep the car a long time or have cars that have need of intensive cleaning and minor paint restoration, but as always USE THE LEAST ABRASIVE FIRST! SSR2 is a good starting point. I did my dads 51 plate A6 Avant and it transformed the car totally. (Wash, clay bar, wash again, PC'd Clearkote compound followed by SRR2 then clearkote handglaze and clearkote cab wax *both by hand*)
