Milo
What is it with the B7 A4 front centre armrest? My B6 one was fine but the two B7 ones I've had creek and groan every time you put any weight on them. They're crap. Have they changed the plastics or something? I thought this one was OK but within 48 hours, sure enough it has started creeking away and driving me nuts. What's the point of an armrest if you can't rest your arm on it? It seems to be the lid section that's to blame. Has anyone found a cure to this other than taking a hacksaw to the whole stupid thing
Nelson_R32
The problem is the Armrest lid 'rubbers' don't make proper contact with the lower base part. Try litterally moving the armrest lid while its closed to the left and it'll probably stop it. Mine does this too
Milo
I'm tempted to keep moving it to the left and out the passenger window I looked at the 2 little rubbers on the bottom of the lid and both seem to be making contact. If you flex the lid though it creeks like mad I would take it back but I can't see what they could do. I've had 2 now and both are the same so even replacing the armrest probably wouldn't help. Nelson_R32
I had to replace mine once already because of creaking btw. They are known for it
Milo
Do you think I could get it done under warranty then if it's a known problem? Alternatively, I would even buy a new lid if I thought it would cure it (mine is valcona leather so I don't know if they would be costly?). P_G
I would think so, the same happens to my seat belt anchors. The creak like mad and I have a microfibre wedged between seat and anchor which stops it. Had the originals replaced under warranty and this worked but just in the last couple of months it's started again! When it goes in for 2nd AVS I'll ask for them to be replaced again. P_G
That and the water trapped in the wing mirrors after washing are the only complaints I have against my car. No matter how long I leave the chamois in there behind the mirror glass, it never gets rid of it all and sure enough, going along the dual carriageway is splutters down the side of the car. Grrrrr!
