hus99
its strange to see how everyone has quite different power. while at amd , with rthier persuasion have decided to take out my BMC CDA and go with the standard airbox. but i really am goin to miss that noise that it produced, does anyone use the K and N panel filter or are these just as bad at damaging the MAF? Cupramax
The standard airbox is a good design, I will never understand why everyone rips them out... I've been on severall RR days where standard airbox cars produced the best power.
Mollox
More likely than different power is the variations in rolling road accuracy and ambient weather conditions (particularly how this is compensated for)
Paul
Good to see AmD sticking to their guns about induction kits. The standard airbox is very good as metioned. It flows more than enough air, and is even retained on the MTM big turbo kits. whilst it may improve some cars, the S3's item is not a restriction. hus99
i know this but as i am still young , i still enjoy the noise that the BMC produces. will a kand n panel filter produce some noise close to the BMC as the standard filter does not sound at all.. Paul
Never tried one, havent needed to. my figures above are with a standard paper filter and airbox, on a cold frosty days. Ive had K&N on other cars, when younger, but the panel filters never made much noise. Induction kit on a 2.5 V6 was hilarious, but would have got me banned if i had kept it. The noise was incredible. some people Mod the OEM box and cut holes for increase induction noise, but without things like cold air feeds, and FMIC to help compensate, I dont advise it, as it will just hoover up the hot engine bay air, and hamper performance.
