Woppum
Does it inrest us? The new 63 will be as quick (maybe quicker) than the M5 and when they drop the 65 engine in it, it'll be SLR speed. There has been no mention of this car on this forum. Are we anti merc or have we decided no matter how much power they stick in a merc, its still a merc. I have no side either way. It doesn't interest me, but the bigger engines cant be neglected, they really are very very fast and offer the same levels of refinement as any other Mercedes. But they dont stir my soul. How about yours... This pic doesn't do it justice in AMG guise...
Ari
Not at all, I love certain Mercs, more for what they are and what they do than how they drive. A friend of mine has the current shape CL500 in black with AMG wheels and it looks proper stealthy... Not convinced by that new one in the photo there, but will wait till I've seen the real thing before I decide for sure.

ashleyadam
Hilarious car to look at - I'm sure they make it with spare mercs parts.
Woppum
They said the new S65 handled like a bigger, faster M5. If the dynamics on this is better (which it should be). It could be a bigger, faster, more expensive M6.. with an auto box.

[/ QUOTE ] Sadly I suppose it will weight over two tonnes, have the usual button-controlled automatic gearbox, and you'll not be able to turn the traction control off. Whilst I do like the outgoing [2001- W220 based] CL500 and CL55, the M5 destroys it for driver appeal, E39 or E60. Ian
dainton
Bored already. Mercs seem to have some amazing power to suck all enthusiasm out of me. Then again BMW only manage a vague "yeah that'd be fun". I'm not excited until it ways less than me, was built in a lean to by a man named fred and has less frills than lidl. Any Caterham style thingy I see makes me smile, most prestige makes leave me cold.

Golfer
Can't get excited about mercs any more,to many let-downs, bits falling off and dealerships who don't give sh*t about customers. Never will buy another.
kam
As a merc owner (not CL) and fan, from the pics it looks like a copy of a merc that Honda would make. But need to see it in the flesh for final judgement... Mercs always seem to look strange at launch and seem to grow on you with time....thats my twopence worth
dainton
Actually I drive a Mk3 Golf GTi which I alternate between loving and hating, usually hating. Something about small light impractical cars that look like they have the build quality of a flymo appeal to me.
Alastair_A3
Its fun and very fast but i'd never have one as an everyday car
dainton
How can you dislike a car like that? Eveything about it says "Drive me hard and fast, treat me bad." I really can't understand the appeal of an A4 or 320 compared to something like that. Who cares about being warm and dry when you could have fun? God, my Golf is uncomfy, noisy handles like a dog, slow, never the right temp with awful seats. how could a caterham be a worse day to day car (apart from boot space)? I drive a CSL so id like to think im more hardcore than most . But holding down a job where I need a car to do loads of miles a year a Caterham would drive me insane. Apart from getting wet every time it rained, it would probably break my back and make my ears bleed. The best things work at their peak in moderation my friend. cruiser647
That new CL looks better in that pic than the pics on the Autoexpress web site. The current CL looks good, so that have a lot of work to do. Depreciation will obviously be brick like (liek the current one). I wouldn't mind a current CL, over most things that compete with it. cruiser647
[ QUOTE ] What competes with it a 10 ton lorry! [/ QUOTE ] It is just that large stylish cars are my style. Audi A6 & A8, Merc CL (not S-Class) & CLS, previous gen BM 7, Phaeton etc. Fast and frantic cars are NOT (edit!!) really for me. As my TSN name suggests, I like to fast cruise. ashleyadam
Audi A6,A8,BMW7 - Look really classy and styled well but sorry just dont see it with the merc. My younger brother and his wife would not drive anything other than Merc for a number of years now I just always felt they feel so heavy to drive - then again I'm only a little guy so maybe slightly influenced. david_d
It has the same lame foglight design as the eos, audi tt, A4, S4, Hyundai coupe, cayman...etc etc I wish people would go back to design school.
