Well i don't believe in luck but took the car this morning for it's anual service. Decided to take it out of the main dealer network as the car is over 4 years old now. Followed some people's recomendation here on TSN to take it to an Audi-VW specialist. So took the car this morning to the workshop and was given a lift back to my work place, which was very nice. Went back at 5 to pick up the car and everything had been done with nothing to report apart from saying the car was in very good condition. Service cost £208 including vat. So no bad for a big service. Drove the car off and after about 5 minutes drive i could hear this strange noise (clang) coming from the front. Stopped the car and looked around for anything loose but couldnt see anything. Then drove for another 200 yards went round a motor way junction round-about and the noise became louder and the right wheel felt like it was flat or unstable so decided not to join the M4 but took one of the smaller slip roads. Stopped the car as soon as i could do safely in a garden centre car park, took the wheel trim of the front o/s wheel to discover to my shock that all 5 bolts were loose.

Didn't ring the garage as it was too late but i was very angry to say the least to how they could miss something like that. Shocking....

I would hate to think what could have happened was i driving on the M4 and wheel come off!!!

So what are my options here guys?

Do i forget about it and just not take the car there for a service or

Do i make a fuss about it tomorrow by going back and ask to see the manager?

That could have killed you. Make sure they know it. And it was one mistake for each of the bolts they missed, think about it. If you don't get a very grovelly letter, then report them to trading standards, and name and shame 'em on here. You are very very lucky indeed......

This is not a grovelling letter mistake. This is owing you a kidney redeemable at any point in time mistake. This is where you not only get a free blowjob but they throw in a valet with it. Maybe I'm unreasonable, actually I am unreasonable (or is it objectionable?) but I'd want someone to lose their job for that size cock up.

My sister-in-law had a similar experience a couple of months ago when her VX220 was serviced by a Vauxhall Main Dealer...

Before taking it in she specifically asked if they were experienced in dealing with the VX220 (well it's not your average Corsa/Astra/Vectra is it!).

She had it serviced whilst she waited in the showroom as they were unable to offer a courtesy car/bus service (having promised one at the time of booking). After a couple of hours her car emerged from the service bay with two teenage technicians on board, grinning like Cheshire Cats, who proceded to drive off in it at high speed. They returned a few minutes later (still grinning) having driven approx 7 miles and used a 1/4 tank of fuel!

She drove the car for a day or so but said it didn't feel 'right'. Her ex came over and checked the car over only to find the wheel nuts were loose on the rear wheel and this had caused the tyre to wear down to the canvas on one edge.

After a couple of hours of arguing with the service manager and threats of trading standards the dealer agreed to replace both rear tyres... but that was extremely reluctantly and partly because the MOT was due within days and was now going to be failed due to the tyre.

WTF!!! If two teenagers or any other members of staff had driven off in my car with grins on their faces and returned after 7 miles and 1/4 tank of fuel down, they'd be grinning with rather gummy smiles now....I can tell you!!! mad.gif

I would've demanded new wheels, tyres, free service, tank of fuel and head from the service managers wife while he was watching!!!

Fecking liberties!!! NONO3.GIF
