P_G
.....to have the engine checked over after the disappointing results on the rolling road last weekend. For those that don't know at AMD my results were 318.6bhp at 6125 rpm and 302.3 ft/lbs at 4300 rpm. plus 15 engine fault codes. So Newcastle Audi have had it for the morning and found nothing wrong on the tests and the fault codes have not reappeared on VAG-COM. However a curious comment from Audi. They had phoned Audi technical with regard to my exhausts and they have summised that some of the problem may be that because it now has high flow sports cats, the standard lambda sensors may not be calibtrated to handle the gas readings from 200 cpsi cats and therefore could be restricting the performance of the car. I have asked how much it would be for RS4 lambda sensors and whether they are compatible, but is this really a reason? And if so, why aren't Milltek systems suffering the same. I get the feeling they are clutching at straws here. Gas tests, MAF sensor etc all OK apparently ! Soon find out, going to Well Lane Turbo Centre in Batley tomorrow to put it on their R/R and find out if anyone fancies a Leeds / N Yorks quick meet?! BTW, also told to constantly run the car on Optimax / V Power by Audi technical. Going to pick it up soon, apparently they are just washing it! lmmlmmam
P_G - is that figure really that disapointing? The lack of forward speed (&cool air) normally hurts RR power figures somewhat. What were the fault codes? Did the engine light come on in the car? rottenbend
To put it in context, I think that fact that my standard S4 got 338HP on the same day on the same rolling road might explain why the figures are disappointing.
Tizzy
That is a big difference. I guess the pipes may well have something to do with it. Were you running 95 or Super/V Power during the test? I've been running 95 a lot recently as like many, my 42 p/mile car allowance doesn't cover the cost of using V Power. Fuel economy has worsened slightly (although not much) but the car does feel sluggish and hesitates slightly in lower gears - so I would imagine is putting out less bhp!! P_G
[ QUOTE ] P_G - is that figure really that disapointing? The lack of forward speed (&cool air) normally hurts RR power figures somewhat. What were the fault codes? Did the engine light come on in the car? [/ QUOTE ] That's the thing, none of the engine management warning lights came on, all the faults were detected on VAG-COM. And it was running on V-Power. And as Rottenbend said his stock S4 went on the raod after mine and produce near standard results as quoted by Audi. I think Sam Dalton's produced slightly better than that with his Milltek, hence why I was disappointed. But we knew something was up when after the run the guy was quizing me about whether I have had a flat battery and the car decided it would accelerate by itself with no one in it! Anyway, no nearer a resolution but to be fair, since the codes were cleared it's felt better and economy is back again to normal. Final litmus test is tomorrow when I put it back on a R/R and find out what happens. The only other thing I can think of is that the other S4's were in the shade before the R/R and mine was in direct sun and heat soak has sapped the power? Now who's clutching at straws? And thanks for the advice CG, no damage but dirty water marks all over. However all the technicians are happy it went in, four of them went for the 'test drive' in it this morning, to caompare thoughts during the journy you understand. And they were giving it some as the DIS1 was showing 13.4 mpg when I got it back and it was an 22.3 when I dropped it off this morning....

P_G
I'm on the r/r for 9am, it was the only way I could get to go by driving down and being back befor midday so not away from mum to be for too long. It's the Well Lane Turbo Centre, never been but now that I have nav it'll be the first time I'll put my complete faith in its ability to guide me there. Fergy
good Luck PG. PS are your exhaust tips 100mm? They looked like rocket launchers when I saw them yesterday
P_G
100mm and fit just nicely into the rear valance. I think they look like that because Milltek 100mm tips are fluted, whereas they are straight through to silencer.
MOSE
Graeme am really curious about this as obviously I have had the catback done at this stage and am due to go slightly ballistic with some more mods soon. Now.....when you had your cats and catback done did you have a remap done at the same time. There is a reaon for asking. When the Monaro has the catback system added, the car needs a remap and WORTEC insist that this is done. When the headers and cats are added, then engine needs a further remap so that it is all fueling correctly. When the blower goes on, yet another remap is need. But all of these remaps are in the cost of the upgrade. So, the question is mainly directed at whether or not you had a remap done when the cats and catback went on?? Milo
I'd guess it was Newcastle Audi. They do a good job of washing them, it's just the grit covered chamois that lets them down

Scotty
I had a dyno down and got a similar poor result. My problem turned out to be that for some reason the "readiness codes" had lost their settings. AMD did something to the ECU and it was resolved...although I've not put it on a dyno since. [/ QUOTE ] Which dealer was this? and I cannot believe you let them wash your car [/ QUOTE ] I did ask them to leave it alone but they said after their 'test' drive it needed cleaning. Suffice to say if the weather holds I'll have to do it all again on Sunday. ScoTTy, readiness codes? What is there purpose? Mose, I have not had it remapped because of the fear of invalidating the warranty. However dependent on the results tomorrow I may consider having it done so to alter the fueling. Believe it or not, it actually says on the work sheet that there could be two possible faults;- 1/Lambda probes are not functioning properly in conjunction with sports cats 2/ large bore exhausts is effecting gas discharge. I'm surprised because I then quizzed them about Milltek set up and that they didn't suffer which they then claimed to know nothing of the Milltek set up. And to top it all off, they were asking me where the nearest rolling road was because they had to send one of there other customers to it and didn't know a local 4WD one! MOSE
HHHmmmmm, the Lambda sensors went on my car within a month of having the mods done, but all replaced under warranty. Vauxhall have endorsed the WORTEC tuning stuff including the supercharger that has recently been seen on the Monaro, but its funny how they dont recommend stuff like Milltek, even though there is a full headers to tail package available. Am not quite sure wher you woutand with Audi's warranty, but am sure they will give you a straight answer
P_G
well, after an early morning dash down to Batley this morning and testing the car half a dozen times the average reading was 354bhp at 6826rpm and 312 ft/lbs of torque at 3750 rpm (plateaued at this from 3750 to 4250 rpm) At the wheel figures as opposed to fly wheel readings so I'm quite chuffed things are OK. As said it was put straight on the rollers upon my arrival and tested, then given 30 minutes to settle and tested again. Looks like AMD clearing the fault codes did the trick. One relieved S4 driver! Now to reverse Audi's attempt to clean my car.

P_G
Cheers chaps. Am definetly happier with it now and the repsonse it better. I am however tempted to remap now than wait next year, did someone say Revo do a trial map? Tired of people racing me which is becoming more commonplace, perhaps time to blow them into the weeds? Scotty
It won't happen! A remap with sharpen the throttle a bit but it's not gonna suddenly make it possible to blast a previously competitive car.
TDiAvant
I was looking at that for the S4, and I really don't think it's worth it, £600 notes for 12-15bhp...
