Bounce
I did Read about this the other week i think it said it made it harder to read the plate but not impossible and you'de be in less trouble for the speeding offence than you would be using that stuff. Rustynuts
There's a guy near me who drives a Vauxhall (something or other) and he's got some sort of film stuck over his number plate. Basically, if you're looking straight at it, you can read the plate (just) but if you look from the side, it distorts like those cheap 3d images you used to get in cornflake packets years ago. I wonder how come he's not been stopped by the police, but it must be a speed camera defence of some type. As for the spray stuff here, I suppose it depends on whether it makes the plate unreadable to the naked eye as to whether you'll get pulled by the police or not, and if the camera doesn't get your plate, then you'll not get caught with a speeding fine. Who's going to be a guinea pig for this then? Edit: And just for the record, does anyone elses browser crash when they visit that site?
R32North
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Is it legal? [/ QUOTE ] Says its 100% legal? [/ QUOTE ] It won't be legal at all. It called interferring with Police Business. You're trying to side-step the law and they do take that much more seriously than the actually speeding offence. I bet they're legal statement comes from the fact that actual plates that distort the imgae are illegal and the law states this (its in the same vein as windows tints used to be) but if you apply something over the plate then the law is grey in that area. However, trying to deceive speed camera's is against the law....... Avoid this product. Edit: I guess tho no-one will know you've used it, but as RN said, do you want to test it out!!! NeilB
A couple of MOT testers tried this spray and took a picture with the flash on, and the number plate come up clear as a bell. I you want to hid your numberplate from plod there is always the free option, it's called mud.

mooret
"It won't be legal at all. It called interferring with Police Business." Wouldn't it be the more serious offence of perverting the course of justice? Its clink for that if you're not lucky!
Schumisalo
If you can still read it, and you can of course with the 'naked' eye, well I guess it is, you only fail your MOT if it's got parts missing/ raid damaged by black streaks etc, so I guess no one would ever know. If you were caught on the camera, and the number plate read, as difficult as it may have been, plead your innocence, claim a garage, previous owner must have done it- if it can not be actually seen there is no proof!!! garcon magnifique
It's great stuff apparently. Only two drawbacks really. 1. It doesn't work. 2. Its legality is questionable. Apart from that - go for it!
pritesh
There is a guy in Slough who has a similar product on his car (i forget the model of car) but he was caught and given a fine and points...as the cops were driving behind him and they happend to have an on-board video and the camera was showing a blank plate...but they could clearly read the plate with their eyes. So really its hardly worth it...stay well away from it. Its not worth it.
Sponge
[ QUOTE ] I you want to hid your numberplate from plod there is always the free option, it's called mud. [/ QUOTE ] Mud is just as bad and unlawful. You have to have clear plates and lights. I speak from first hand experience (stopped many years ago). I always make sure my windows, lights and numberplates are cleaned after mud-plugging.
LRR
As ppp666 said, There was a clip shown on 'Road-Wars' when an unmarked police car came up behind the car, and the policeman noticed the plate was blank on their in-car camera, but was visable, and also shown on the documentry camera the guy in the back had...... They pulled him and nicked him - Hence it's not worth the risk.
eddie696
I thought that these were only any good when the Flash from the camera overexposes the image and makes the plate unreadable. I had some Photoblocker spray and it was useless when tried with a normal camera. This would also be no good with any camera that does not have a flash (i.e digital)
