hello,

i've had my 3yr old avant a week now and have noticed

a rattle from the driver side door, only when i hit a bump in the road, but a little annoying all the same, anyone else aware of this problem, is it easy enough to get fixed, also was wondering about the servicing on this car, is it worth going with Audi who i imagine are quite a bit more expensive than an independant garage...could be wrong. it's just i have to travel quite far to get to my "local" audi dealer.

thanks.

Could be the glass has dropped sligthly on it's housing, not a big job from what I am told so shouldn't cost the earth to repair.

I may be a bit more fortunate than you in that mines' under warranty and it's not so bad so I am leaving it until it goes in for it's second AVS in December.

Are the scratches through the paint to metal of just quite deep.

I personally wouldn't touch scratch repair kits as you will always see the repair, especially on the bonnet. Better to try and polish as much of it out as possible or get someone to do this for you and then perhaps lacquer fill the scratch and mask with good polish and wax.

Where are the scratches exactly?

A combination of Meguiars Scratch X to start off with, the Meguiars Stage 1 cleaner, stage 2 polish and then Gold Class wax works for me.

Between Scratch X and Stage 1 Cleaner they take out most of the surface swirls and scratches, polish fills the rest in if necessary and wax just finishes it off.
