sburke1
Hello gents. Anyone able to shed some light on this for me? Am considering bidding for a sat nav on ebay and the thought of a tv tuner is very appealing. Just wondering, has anyone else bought a sat nav on ebay? If so, any problems? silentandy
There's no TV tuner in the OEM sat nav, you have to buy the tuner box separately.
sburke1
Are they expensive? Does it involve much remedial work? Cheers.
Tarmac_Terrorist
Might need an extension lead if you go for cable TV
AdyGTI
Looks to be something like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DVD-TV-Multimedia-...36724QQihZ007QQ I know it's not TV exactly but it was worth the post.I Never knew it existed until tonight, might be worth getting at some point. sburke1
This may be a very stupid question but can one actually watch say, terrestrial tv on it? Or is it purely for PS2's and DVD output? Thanks.
nhs
Certainly with the BMWs I've been in, yes you watch normal TV.... or you can watch a DVD. UK sets are coded so the screen "blanks out" when the car is moving, but there are loads to companies around that will "upgrade" this so you can watch your DVDs (or TV - but reception not always great) and drive at the same time (or do I mean risk-crashing at the same time! sburke1
Can one buy the DVD of the maps as an original part from vw?
chriswastle
yes you can, but they are very expensive, £200+. Buy the sat nav with the disc. Failing that a version 3 sold for £50 last week on Ebay ( this is the very latest edition) hope that helps..
