loalq
Hi! Just received my A3 2.0T Quattro yesterday, but I noticed something weird. The "T" letter as attached to the back of the car (in the "2.0T Quattro" logo) is silver, not red as I have seen on many A3s around. Anybody can explain me why is that so? For information, the color is "Vulcan Grey". Tks and regards, Loalq
ncr666
Hi. The T was red on my previous A3 but the new one which I picked up in August is silver like yours. ncr666
livall
Picked up my car yesterday and also have a silver T. Would have prefered red
Booster
I've got a red one but mine is an 05 plate. Maybe they've changed them all to silver now
Dandle
Mine is a red T on an 06 plate.
billy2shots
Is there 2 differnt power outputs i.e 140bhp and 170bhp. IIRC vwag have used red letters in the past to show a power differnce. The higher powered Golf would have a red T and a silver T would mean the lower powered engine. loalq
I was just wondering if this could be related to the color of the car itself. Mine is Vulcan Grey, so maybe a red "T" wouldnt appear as much... Anyway, the company bought 6 A3 2.0Ts, so I´ll just wait until next week (mine was the first to arrive) to check if this color thing makes sense... billy2shots - You are right, the old 1.8T had two versions (150hp and 180hp), being the 180hp the one with the red "T", but I suppose there is just one version of the 2.0T... Briggs
Mine is Silver. I remember the Mkiv GTI had some Red I's - I always thought it was for the 150/180bph version but then they started apearing all over the place!
Dandle
[ QUOTE ] Mine is Silver. I remember the Mkiv GTI had some Red I's - I always thought it was for the 150/180bph version but then they started apearing all over the place! [/ QUOTE ] The silver "I" on a mk4 GTI ment that it had the 2.0N/A 115bhp engine. The Red "I" was used if it was the 1.8T engine with either 150bhp or 180bhp. Milo
I picked up an 06 plate 220PS A4 in March 2006 and the T was red. I picked up another one this month on a 56 plate and it's silver. The sales fella said they're all silver now

A2ULP
[ QUOTE ] The silver "I" on a mk4 GTI ment that it had the 2.0N/A 115bhp engine. The Red "I" was used if it was the 1.8T engine with either 150bhp or 180bhp. [/ QUOTE ] The Silver 'I' was also used on the initial 1.8 20v N/A GTI, which was replaced by the 2.0 8-valver. This is only in the UK mind. The 1.8T had a silver 'I' abroad because the 1.8 20v/ 2.0 8v models weren't known as GTI, I think they were either Sport, Sportline, Comfortline or GT. My cousin's fiance's Imported Irish Golf GTI 1.8T has the silver badge which I'm sure shocks a few people when they see the after-effects of his Revo remap I suspect, in relation to the A3, that Audi will introduce the 220PS (217bhp) from the A4 DTM special edition so A3's and A4's will get the red I on this model. Only guessing, mind.
tomsinclair
I had a MK4 GTI 1.8T and it had a silver I, It did not necessarily mean it was for the 2.0 or the red one for the 1.8T. I asked the dealer when I got it as I also thought it should be red when I got it.
whisky
Cars with the red T are loads quicker and better than those with the 'standard' silver T. You could try borrowing some nail varnish and sorting it out

prt57
My GTI 1.8T has the silver I and it is a 1998 model. When I bought it new I enquired about the lack of silver and I was told that they used whatever was available at the time of building. The red I was never used on the non turbo cars. prt57
