FAULT SYMPTOMS

My 1997 estate model exhibited the following symptoms:

Electric windows failed to operate on internal switches but continued to work on key from driver’s door. On inspection wiper fuse was blowing. Also rear wiper appears to stick, not work or works and washer spray travels with wiper and looks like a mechanical fault.

PROBLEM SOLVED!

Rear tail gate left side wiring loom has fatigued inside the rubber gland between the tail gate and body. A quick inspection by pulling back the rubber harness reveals some wires broken/frayed and shorting intermittently, hence causing the fuse to blow sometimes.

REMEDY

Repair wires or replace left cable assembly: parts around £57.

I have come across 2 instances my R reg and a P reg.
