Just took delivery of mine and running in is mucho importante. Only up to 5,000 revs and NO full-throttle for the first 1200 miles. Its difficult cause the car just wants to go but you have to do it. Otherwise if there is ever an engine problem BMW can check if you ran in the engine properly. After 1200 mile service you can gradually start using the car properly.

The correct procedure is:

Until a mileage reading of 1,200 miles(2,000 km): drive at varying engine and road speeds, but do not exceed the following engine speeds or road speeds:

5,500/rpm or 105 mph (170 km/h)

Do not depress the accelerator pedal to the full-throttle position. frown.gif

After you have monitored the breakin period for 1,200 miles (2,000 km), (and had the car serviced) you can begin to gradually increase both the engine speed and road speed. However, between 1200 and 3200 miles you should avoid any periods of prolonged full-throttle and not exceed 136mph ...After all that, PARTY ON!!! the_finger.gif
