Tom Tom Go 510 Vs Garmin NUVI 310

Recommended Posts

As you say there isn't that much between them. I've got a tomtom so am biased but I have seen them develop more new features etc. with each new release than anyone else.

To put the speed cameras on is easy peasy now as they have developed a new application that helps you out with this.

On and one other thing is that you can get a traffic receiver for a one off fee that will tell you where the hold ups are and you don't need to pay a subscription. 169144-ok.gif

Thanks for the rplies guys. I went to halfrauds for a demo and to be honest the tomtom looked the dogs doodahs. Quicker to search postcodes etc.

* How long do you get out of your battery

* whats the Bluetooth handsfree like

* How much to pay

* any TSN discounts anywhere

I find the Tom Tom to be much better at the actual nav process than the Garmin. It gives much better routing, my wifes Garmin always seems to take strange routes, very direct, just not the most sensible. Tom Tom takes the fastest routes, and is usually very good at calculating how long it will take you, plus you can get the TMC add on for it.

The hands free is good, the interface is not quite as good as the nav one, but the reading out of text messages is excellent.

Just a pity mine was swiped out of my car this week - be careful.

PC world is doing the 910 for under £400 if you order on line (can collect in store).

The Bluetooth works well in theory but I had a few problems with my SE K750i. The BT pairing fails to "stick" if there is any change between data/voice usage. I also found you need to use the separate microphone to be heard.

I agree with Andrew Badger that the routes are great most of the time and I'm very pleased with my Go 510.
