garcon magnifique
Purely hypothetically speaking ( ), if you were to decide to order a new S4, what colour/spec would you go for? Any options not listed that you'd tick? Forgot to add trim - though if it were me I'd definitely go for black/black leather/alcantara... Oh, and I'd almost certainly go for a manual, but would be interested in comments on manual vs auto.
brownswood
you must get the interior light pack also if not std. BOSE is essential as is heated seats and an armrest i feel - consider phone prep also its very good and you get MFSwheel as part of it. forget piano inlay you should have the sline silver trim allday
Scotty
If it doesn't come as standard I'd recommend the parking sensors. Why would you consider Piano black over the other S4 standard trims? Sorry to those that have it but it looks like cheap plastic to me and scratches very easily. P_G
Garcon, there are two types of sunroof, normal tilt/slide and solar, the latter being the one to get. Indeed very handy for keeping your car cool on the hot summers days with black / black interior and if you get a dark coloured car that absorbs the heat. The electrically folding mirrors I have have been handy as well, if anything to avoid them being ripped off by passing cars. If you can get it as well, electric rear blind would be a must have for me, just for pose factor. BOSE is good in a saloon (can't comment on an Avant) but don't bother with DVD Sat NAV, you can retrofit it / get someone to do it far cheaper. kite
I like my self dipping mirrors, think this is a good option.
Tizzy
I ticked the spec I have to which I'd add rear parking sensors and the auto-dipping interior / exterior mirrors (both of which should be blo*dy standard like on a boggo BMW!). Dolphin grey as the colour. Oh and I'd never buy a new one! - 6-12 months old and avoid the steep early depreciation!!
garcon magnifique
OK, who ticked yellow... Keep it coming folks - interesting to see your comments, especially on options. A couple there I thought I could probably do without, but would be nice. I quite like the look of the piano black inlay, but to be honest I'd probably keep the standard carbonfibre. Apart from my own possibilities, it's just interesting to see the spec/colour people qould choose. For example, I quite fancy a subtle grey one - and it seems a popular choice - but I can't help thinking Dolphin looks a bit, um, flat. Especially compared to some other shades out there (like Daytona for example - why can't they do it in Daytona?!). Oh yes, on new versus used - I guess that depends on what discount I can find and whether I can find a used one in the spec/colour I want - very few out there at the moment. P_G
They could do Daytona, as a special order colour! And as for inlays, alu trim is best.... not that I'm biased of course! Dopes this all mean that you will be aksing us S4 drivers for a test drive at the next meet Garcon?
TDiAvant
Don't bother getting nav fitted, just make sure you get the double din radio, then retrofit the nav for 1/4 of the cost
rottenbend
Same applies to cruise - you can save a bit of cash there as well.
TDiAvant
you could do but with cruise you have to remove the airbag and steering wheel, but 1 hour in shark's capable hands and your sorted
Merlot
BOSE is free at the mo.
Drewcam
Garcon, my biggest gripe with mine is that it hasn't got Bose. As you know i bought mine at 12 monthes old and there was not many around at all to choose from. Number 1 on my shopping list was Sprint blue. Then as long as it had Brushed allu inlay and Bose i was happy. I wish i had Bose every time i get into the car. Mine has leather/cloth recaros and i actually like them comfort wise and for looks (my last A4 had full leather) Ther come pretty highly specced to start off with. I couldn't afford a new one but i wouldn't buy new anyhow as the saving i made was really good at 12 monthes old

AntW
I opted for Yellow (no Noggy blue on your list) BOSE, get the double din stereo then speak to CraigyB about getting satnav cheaper than dealer fit Cruise can also be retrofitted or less Centre armrest. and if you want it diamondbriteing or equivalent

garcon magnifique
Good point Jim - may have to try a 335i. I want a V8 though! I believe BOSE is indeed better in the saloon. It's a free upgrade at the moment, which hopefully means late used ones will have it when I get round to seriously looking (early next year). Has anyone driven both a manual and a tiptronic? I'm bored with an auto so almost definitely want to go manual, but still interested to hear an objective(ish) view...

Nelson_R32
To be honest I'm stunned Cruise Control isn't standard on the S4; if its standard on an SE spec A3 it should be standard on a £40k car
Scotty
Bose is definately better in the saloon than an avant. I've done a head to head comparison running the same cd in both S4 variants. I think it's the sub in the shelf that makes the difference.
