tappers
The rear cup holders in my 1999 A6 Avant do not come out. It there any way that the unit can be removed to see what the problem is?? I cannot see any way it can be done.
crasher
Without checking ours (the wife has it so i cannot check at the moment) you may need to take out the rear bench seat - you should then be able to access them from behind. If its anything like my S8, the bench seat's only held in place by a couple of bolts.
tappers
Do you know where those bolts might be ? I see from your sig yours has RNS-E, and that yours is the 180BHP version, would I be right in saying you already had the double DIN space in the front? I would like to get RNS-E installed if not too costly but unsure about the doulbe din Conversion??
nicknick
No need to remove the rear seat ...there is an audi bulletin on these which if I can find will post details on. Essentially - I think you take the outer trim away ( the piece around the two cups maybe ..if not then the cupholder fronts) ...then they can be released much the same as the front ones with the radio tool ( and if you don't have one of those the metal from one side of a suspension file ( from a filing cabinet if anyone still has these) cut down wit a 30-45 degree slope will do the job). Alternatively...mine are slow /reluctant to come out ...but if I wallop the seat with my fist above the cupholders they come out slowly and just enough to get them out all the way. Replacements are something like £15 -£20 (each) from dealers last time I looked...

I'm sure Craigyb has done single-to-double din conversions. Drop him a PM
nicknick
From his posts I don't think Craigyb hasn't done an A6 single to double (not that he'd have a problem doing ..it's easy enough..but the parts are the pain) .. Tappers - did you get my PM on how to do it ?
