I was young and silly at the time and now ashamed Know someone that got done on the same bit of road in the evening time doing 55, camera van caught her. She got 5 points and a fine. steve2
My wife got a 2 week ban and £235 fine for 47 in a thirty, just depends on where you live and the magistrate as they normally go to court at this speed
Tizzy
If a mate of mine who's a traffic cop is to be believed then you'll get the normal £60 and 3 points. He says you have to be 26mph or above the posted limit for it to be referred to court - not sure I want to test that though!

R32Ash
According to the West Yorskhire Scamera scheme, the penalties work like this. I'd assume it's the same nationally. Or maybe not.

Ska
I was done for doing 47 on a 30; they had just removed the 40 signs a couple of weeks ago. I used to live off that road a few years back and all I could rember was its was a 40 zone. It was the firts time I drove down that road in years as I was working in gloucester at the time; Result 3pts £60 lighter Even one of the officers felt a little sorry for me
drpellypo
WHen they have just changed the speed limit, they don't take you to court (usually) unless you are doing a silly speed. I was going 54 in a 30 that was a 60 the day before, and when I enquired as to why I hadn't been sent to court, that was the answer (albeit off-the-record) I got back. Dadstoys
Safety camera ? F*ck off - they're a money making exercise - nothing else. Safety would be better addressed by having more patrol cars pulling you up and having a word for minor digressions. But hey, thats costs money on wages, and you can buy a scamera van for just 6 months PC's wages.

neilp
I recently got caught doing 50 in a 30 after a change in limit due to the village boundary being moved and it going from a national speed limit to a 30, result was £60 a three points. [/ QUOTE ] That's bloody annoying. Before the limit was moved you were a model citizen, a law abiding motorist going about his business. They move the limit and you're suddenly a serious criminal; endangering the planet and only one step above a murderer. Speed kills, but it didn't before they moved the sign, obviously. PetrolDave
I got caught doing 77 in a 50 by Thames Valley Police. Had to pay £80 for a "Driver Awareness Course" (one wasted day of total boll..ks about how to drive a Suzuki Wagon R+ - not relevant to driving an S4), PLUS £60 and 3 points. The chance of you getting away with 3 points and £60 is pretty close to zero. When the NIP arrives - you could try follow the advice here.

Happened to lady P_G when she refused as she wanted to do the test in Cramlington near us but they said they could only accomodate her in filthland. Well the rest is history...
