smjohns
Sorry if this has been asked before, I have tried searching but could not find anything. How do you go about changing the A4 HID headlights for driving in Europe? Is there a lever at the back or inside the light unit or is this a dealer only change. Do regular Europe travellers bother modifying their lights these days? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Cheers Si
UBM
There is/was supposed to be a lever behind the passenger side headlight - but most people have looked and it is not there. The dealers at the coast do it relatively cheap for you.
kite
I brought beam benders from my dealer. Do you want the part No.
smjohns
Thanks for both your replies. @kite - beam benders sound ok. I found this site for them: http://www.saxonind.co.uk/beambenders.htm Are they definitely ok for HID headlights though?
kite
The ones from Audi are just for xenons. They dont stick on they slid over just the dipped beam projector part of the headlamp. I'll go and get the part No, not cheap tho. Part No 8EO 998 981 A Nelson may be able to supply cheaper
smjohns
Thanks for that kite. Out of interest, when you say they just slide over the dipped beam projector part of the headlamp how do they attach? Do you need to open up the light unit or are they like static window stickers that just attach to the front of the unit? Sorry if I am being a bit dumb
kite
They clip on like headlamp protectors, but only cover the dipped beam part of the lamp. PM me an e mail address and I'll send photos.
PetrolDave
I've got a set of the Audi deflectors which I no longer need (they won't fit my B7 RS4). Only used once for 2 weeks in June/July in France. They DO stick on - they came with two thin strips of double sided tape top and bottom. But as the tape only works one time, you need to fit new tape each time you use them.
johnjohnsimpson@btinterne
Hi (Petrol Dave), Sorry if this is a bit of a "dead thread" but wondered what the current solution to beam conversion on the B7 RS4 - Audi dealer wants £58 to do the switch - oh and £58 to do it back!! Seems a bit steep so wondered if Super Beam Benders or similar actually work? Many thanks Johnnymag

If you have adaptive lights on your RS4 (like I do) then I don't spend a penny when I go abroad - with VAG-COM I enable "Tourist Mode" while I'm waiting at the port on the way out and reset it on the way back. S4_marv
Does the tourist mode only work on the adaptive lights? Not on the regular xenons on an '04 S4? I assume I'll be looking for a switch/lever otherwise when I head to the continent next year...

My 04 plate A4 is going over to France this year and I can't work out from all the various posts what works, what doesn't etc.
S4_marv
I never had to do this, as my Euro road trip fell through. But see this previous post, which I think explains it mostly.

Of the two B6 S4s I had one had levers (the 2003 one), the other didn't (the 2005 one).
