tainted_love
some low life decided to smash the rear screen on my cooper s and run off with a rubbish bag, yes a tesco bag full of rubbish from the boot (sandwich box, empty drinks bottle and some wrappings, if seen please contact 0797.....). anyway hope they enjoy it, didn’t bother ringing police, just rang autoglass who booked an appointment with local branch. but i asked if they used original MINI screens, they said "its from the manufacturer but we aren’t permitted to use the mini logo, but its all the same.." i dont want some molded tat stuck on, is what their saying true, will it not matter. looking forward to any advice p.s. booked in for today at 3pm. patently
Sorry to hear your news. Sounds like AG are sourcing their replacements from the same manufacturer that supplies MINI. So the thing itself should be identical to the original. They can't sell it as a MINI windscreen as it has not actually passed through MINI's paws and been given a generous markup. TDiAvant
That's total cr@p. I got told the same thing from RAC Auto windscreens, but they could order the original screen in but it would take a few days. So I waited and got a genuine screen. I know Auto windscreens will order you a genuine replacement for the mini but you may have to pay a little extra
s4_sat
I had to get 3 windows replaced in my clio and they were identical apart from the renault badge and reg plate was missing from them. Same make and part number.
TDiAvant
I was also told by Audi if I did not get a genuine screen fitted it would affect my warranty

[/ QUOTE ] One of the most common questions I get asked, and you are absolutely spot on there Patently. If you need a replacement wiper you go to Bosch who make the part, not to BMW. Glass is the same. Believe Pilkington make the glass for the MINI. Ian
DHA
Had the rear and front screens done on our Cooper S by Autoglass. Identical but no MINI badging. Both fit perfectly.
