Broadband Supplier Dilemma

Right I am currently with Telewest for broadband/phone. It cost me £50.50 per month for a 4mb unlimited pipe and unlimited calls to landlines. My service is superb, never any downtime & very fast.

but.....

I could switch to Sky(or equivalent) and have broadband/phone on a similar package for £22 per month.

Thats a big saving.

The only thing that is stopping me from switching is performance. Can I find out beforehand if i will definately get 8-16mb? What are the contention ratios like in real terms.... etc.....etc....

So basically is the difference worth £28 per month???

I don't know - has anyone else done this and have any views confused.gifconfused.gif

But there is massive differences in speed between different providers, yesterday my mate who is 3 doors down started to download Gear Of War, this was at 3pm, I asked if he had got it at 6pm and he laughed and said it was at 15%, he emailed me the torrent file and I had it down by the time the Aresnal game had ended, so around 3 hours for 6.4gb, he was only just finishing this morning.

I am Zen and he is with Nildram, same exchange, same telgraph pole and both 8meg dsl, both using a speedtouch router too.

If you are not having any problems I would stick with who you are with, or it'll end in tears! wink.gif

Speek to your provider, they may want to keep you and offer you a cheaper price. I was paying £36 a month for 10Mb from NTL. I called them and said I had been offered a cheaper service by Sky, they knocked my bill down to £16 a month with free evening and weekend calls!

Can't grumble with that!

I'm sure if you approach Telewest and tell them you're thinking of leaving for another supplier they'll do you a deal.

As for Sky, a friend recently moved from Telewest to Sky and was without Broadband for a month whilst Sky got their @rses into gear. sportifs2.gif

If you're happy with Telewest, stick with them. 169144-ok.gif
