pitch3110
Sunday morning bright & early, thought I know get the wheels off & giv em the big one, plus swap them round, 9.5k & getting a bit naughty. Could i get the caps off the nuts could i hell. RTFI......Arh there must be some long nose twizzer things in the kit. Errrr, no. Just a nice gizmo to get the centre cap off 17" 5 spokes. Anyway Dealer sorted with no fuss, which was nice, but wouldn't you have thought the PDI should of flagged it up. ..Moral of the story.....Check your tool kit chaps if the car is new, wouldn't like to think of anyone stuck on the side of the road on a cold wet windy night somewhat annoyed as I was Sunday morning. Sponge
When I fitted my mudflaps a few months ago I had a hell of a time getting the wheels off. It took a very long pole and a lot of swearing to budge many of the wheel nuts. It was the first time I'd tried to remove the wheels since I bought the car and like you say, it would have been a nightmare if I was replacing a puncture on a wet and windy night, in the middle of traffic. NeilScarrott
Multitude of possible problems here, a breaker bar comes in handy, £10 from machine mart, makes wheel nut removal so much easier. Also worth adding a bit of copper grease to the back of your wheels to make sure they come off easily (and to make sure you don't need to revert to a trusty rubber mallet and lots of swearing!). rbithal
I had a similar experience. I bought my A4 used from a dealer. When it came to changing the tyres, the tyre place said there were 2 sets of locking wheel nuts on. The Audi set and another one(Peugeot they thought!). So much for Audi approved cars, checked blah blah. The dealers rectified it,but it shouldn't have happened in the 1st place...
pitch3110
I didn't even get close to getting the wheels off, because I could not get the wheel nut covers off (18" 5arms). But with the right tool I am away.....hopefully.
