PAS groaning

The groaning at slow speeds from the PAS on my 06 2.0 TDI has got quite annoying so I called Bexley Audi explaining the problem and asked them if there were aware of an known issue. They said that weren't and booked the car in.

In a previous post Nelson mentioned that Audi had identified a fix for this so, in the interests of trying to reduce the time that the car is away for whilst a part is ordered I called Audi UK. They were not aware of a fix either.

Is there a reason why the dealer and Audi UK are not aware of this problem?

Audi UK and the factory are well aware of the PAS groaning problem, as it has been discussed many times on here. It may be that your dealer hasn't seen a car with the problem before, but I and many others have had the problem diagnosed as 'dodgy' hydraulics in the PAS. The fix involves replacing one of the hydraulic pipes within the PAS. If necessary I can give you the name and telephone of the senior technician at Listers Coventry who diagnosed my PAS problem and he should be able to give you the part numbers of the replacement parts 169144-ok.gif

Cabby, the issue with the power steering is currently being investigated by Audi Service Technical who are recomending fitting the particular part number I mentioned in the previous thread. They are currently fiting them to get feedback from customers to see if it cures the fault. We've fitted 6 so far and not one person has come back with a complaint 169144-ok.gif

Still waiting to get the part fitted to mine though frown.gif

The car has been with the dealer for two days and they haven't been able to replicate the fault. A bit surprising as it occurs at least once on pretty much every journey.

Had call from service at 5.10pm today explaining the above and asking that we retun the courtesy car within the next 50 minutes or before 8am tomorrow. I explained that I thought this was a little unreaonsable as a) I was 12 miles away and b) my wife was a home with visitors. A little taken aback the service girl agreed to send driver whilst seeming to imply that I wasn't being very helpful.

Why do I always feel I need to remind my local Audi service department who the fu^*ing customer is?
