fatcat
Criteria is 11k, abit 'sporty' and have 4 reasonable seats for 2 adults and 2 teenagers. We all went around the usual suspects last night, but I came up with a gem. Clio 182. Scoobys/Evos a BMW's a Mick is impressed with a Civic Type R but I think we talked him out of it !! Chelsea Mick
[ QUOTE ] Mick is impressed with a Civic Type R but I think we talked him out of it !! [/ QUOTE ] No No No Not the Civic Typr R Pete. I'm impressed with the Seat Leon Cupra R Anyway.... So your budget is £11k. Criteria is :- Should seat 4 people (doesn't need to have 4 doors though) respectable performance Any ideas?
sitas3
is his hearing going now as well?? how about another S3?
cruiser647
A Clio 182 will have trouble seating 2 adults and 2 teenagers in relative comfort. How new must it be? As the Lexus IS300 might be OK????? IS 300's
Chelsea Mick
[ QUOTE ] is his hearing going now as well?? [/ QUOTE ] Poor old boy. Reckon he still had ear fluid problems from his flight back home. [ QUOTE ] how about another S3? [/ QUOTE ] Yeah. Been looking at those too but compared to the Cupra R you have to look at a 2 year older car with quite a bit more mileage on it. Still not completly out of the running yet though
Ari
LCR would be my choice with that budget/criteria

You should be able to get a 53/04 for that money. There are some very overpriced second hand ones. Dont forget that SEAT dropped the price on the last batch of 05 cars to £15k. People are still trying to sell them for that second hand now. I ran one for 2 1/2 years and its the best car I've ever had from a driving fun point of view... shao_khan
Is age important? Saw a M5 in the local paper at one dealership for £13k - thats fairly fast and will seat 4.

garcon magnifique
What happened to the ST220? ... Just realised that's exactly what riz just said... Er, Third (fourth?) vote for the Leon Cupra. Great little car. Cheap to own too.

[/ QUOTE ] I'm not so sure on the cheap to own bit. Tyres are 225/40 18's so as much as an Audi, engine is an S3 mota minus the 4wd gubbins so service is pretty much the same as Audi's and we all know how cheap that is, its got Brembo's up the front as standard and a new set of disks and pads will set you back £425 at a dealer, this willl need doing by 20k as I found out. SEAT service prices are not much less than Audi's in my experience but as I say, the driving experience makes it worth it. Cracking car. garcon magnifique
That must be a regional thing then. Seat dealers in the north west are some of the cheapest places to service a car. ALOT cheaper than Audi, even though it's vaguely the same underneath.
Chelsea Mick
Thanks for your comments so far guys. The ST220 is a "nice" motor but that's all it is...."nice". It is a car that just sits on my drive. I don't look at it and think, "I want to take that out for a spin". It has all the toys and it is fairly respectful performance wise. It just isn't my type of car. Anyway it's sold now and it goes Sunday. Chris. M5 is far too big for me. The Mondeo is too. Never really been a big car lover. Luckily I have a friend who works at the local Seat dealer and is the head mechanic there. So parts/servicing etc is not going to be a problem if I find a good Cupra R. It is looking that an R fits my criteria. I haven't even driven one yet but all the reports I have seen have nothing but praise for it. SamD
No way, I had a Cooper S and if the driver is of any height at all there is no room behind their seat... It is comfortable for 3, but definitely not 4. And the boot space is laughable.
LupoBabe
depends on the size of the people i guess... ive had four people in an old mini comfortably... and 4 in a new one... none with a middle aged beer belly though
