Motormouth
Ive noticed since its started to get cold Im my A3 02, doesnt start as easy. Before it justed used to be turn key and the engine just caught and burst into life, now its turn key wait a second, lights dim and then it catches. Not sure if battery or sparks, car is due for service in Jan, but got to do a lot of miles over xmas, dont want it dieing on me. I had a new battery fitted 8 months ago, but have a feeling misses may have left interior light on, how do I check the battery and its ability to hold charge. ELSA_MAN
Leaving the interior light on wont have wrecked the battery. It should charge back to its former glory the first time the engine is started again. Cold weather itself is a killer of batteries. Any workshop with a battery discharge tester will be able to check the battery. The other possible cause is a battery drain in the vehicle. That is an item of equipment or control unit etc, that doesnt shut down properly when the car is off / locked etc. This may be running the battery down a bit overnight. A mechanic or spark will know how to test for a drain.
