leno
Well the decision of chopping in the R has just been made a whole lot easier.. the missus (pregnant and thankfully ok) was driving along the high st when the typical hoody spotty little w##ker in his Ka ploughed straight into the back of her! After all day at A and E she's alright Hoody boy, after only having his licence for 1month likely to lose it afer being cautioned for undue care and attention. The Ka. Smashed to bits The R, don't look so bad, hard into the bumper without catching either quarter or tailgate but i've just found the i can't open the nearside rear door so i know it's bad... obviously this'll be a claim so will this put mine on the accident register and what impact will this have on the resale value?? SamD
Sorry to hear this, but thank goodness that wife(?) and baby are OK. Hope you get this sorted out soon
dogbucket
Same thing happened to me a few months ago, but it was just a new rear bumper required. The Corsa that ran into me was not quite so lucky. Hope it works out ok.
ChrisEPG
Thank god she's ok. Hope she's not stressing too much and able to still enjoy Christmas (its only a car!!) A normal accident claim and repair shouldn't show on HPI type checks, unless the car is 'written off' by the insurers. ie if they dont think its an economical repair, such as the whole shell or chassis being badly twisted in your case. Then they will give you an agreed value for the car and give it Cat 'D' insurance rating (repairable) and sell it to a third party, who will probably put it back on the road, and repaired (less money than the insurance company would have done) The car could be typically worth £3,000 less than before. I have seen many cars, with clear quite major accident damage, repaired, and come up all-clear on HPI checks. All being well though, your car could be repaired within 5 weeks (with it being Christmas!) and you should be entitled to a half decent courtesy car while its off the road, (depending on your insurance policy)....fingers crossed! [/ QUOTE ] You should be able to claim on their policy for a car that covers your needs. I had a silly bint go into the back of the Scooby a while back (minor damage) that needed a quick trip to the body shop. HER insurance paid for MY hire car. ChrisEPG
Sorry, yes! If it's totally the other drivers fault (backed up by the police cautioning him for undue care and attention) It will be the other drivers insurers paying for your car and hire car and other expenses such as taxis, storage, etc.

Mattchaps
Sorry to hear that mate, just up to Christmas too. Glad all are ok. Hopefully they'll be able to fully repair the car so it shouldn't affect the value too much. The spotty Ka driver did have insurance didn't he?!
